4. AMERICAN DISEASE STATISTICS:
There are 306,984,948 people in America, according to the US Census Bureau.
FACT:
According to the American Cancer Society and
National Cancer Institute, there were 2,505,900
NEW cases of Cancer, in the U.S, in 2008. This
included 1,068,720 cases of skin cancer. There
were 565,650 Cancer deaths in the U.S. in 2008.
Unfortunate Truth:
Most of the 565,650 people who died, were being treated with chemotherapy,
radiation therapy or prescription medications.

5. AMERICAN DISEASE STATISTICS:
FACT:
According to the American Heart Association,
there are 80,700,000 people in the United States
(almost 1 in 4) that have one or more forms of
Cardiovascular Disease. Heart Disease is the #1
Killer of Americans. There were 869,724 Heart
Disease Deaths in the U.S. in 2008.
Unfortunate Truth:
Most of the 869,724 people who died, were taking prescribed blood pressure
medication and/or cholesterol lowering medication, at the time of their death.
High blood pressure and cholesterol are supposed Heart Disease risk factors.

According to the American Diabetes
Association, 23.6 million Americans (1 in 12)

Most of the 224,092 deaths were on some form of prescription medication,

of cases of blindness and amputations from gangrene every year, and is the
7th Leading cause of death in the U.S.

FACT:
According to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of
America, and the Alzheimer’s Association, 5.3
Million Americans have Alzheimer’s. A new case
is diagnosed every 70 seconds, in the U.S.
Annual cost is $148 Billion. There were 72,914
Alzheimer's deaths in the U.S. in 2006*.

The 72,914 deaths were a 47.1% increase from 2000, and again, most were

According to the National Institute of Mental Health
(NIMH), Major Depressive disorder affects approximately
18.8 million American adults, or about 9.5% of the U.S.
