(teens, adults and senior citizens, minus the children
for Summit Entertainment Lionsgate.)
Both are highly successful distributions and make big
profits on their films.
Similarities (in terms of institutions)
9. Summit Entertainment Lionsgate: The Twilight Saga:
Breaking Dawn – Part 2.
Was this successful? Very, its’ budget was $120 millionand
the worldwide grossing was $829,685,377.

What other films has the production
company made?
10. Summit Entertainment Lionsgate: adventure, drama, fantasy and
romance.
Walt Disney: animation, family, fantasy, musical and romance.
Is this important when considering who could produce your film?
I would probably choose Walt Disney out of the two companies to
produce my film. The genres that they usually produce are ones
that I like and feel interested to research. Although Summit
Entertainment Lionsgate produce fantasies and romanctics as
well, overall Walt Disney seem more successful and have made
more films, as well as having a higher total asset budget and making
bigger profits.
What genre of films does the
company usually produce?
11. Walt Disney: targets all ages including adults, teens and children as
well as the senior citizens, but especially children. This is definitely
reflected through their film choice, all ages do watch Disney films
and most enjoy them. However the films vary from Beauty and the
Beast to Mary Poppins and all are still successful.
Summit Entertainment Lionsgate: summit entertainment is highly
similar. However it targets more of the older generation, for
example teens, adults and senior citizens rather than mostly
children. This is also reflected through their film choice, and also
through their BBFC Certificates (12, 12A, 15.)
Is this reflected through their film choice, or does this vary?
This varies for Summit Entertainment Lionsgate as their BBFC
Certificate varies depending on the film, however Walt Disney
targets mainly children, but make films adults enjoy too.
What audiences do each of the
institutions aim to appeal to?
12. I feel that Walt Disney outperforms the other and
could claim to be more successful for the following
reasons:
They tend to make more of a profit and have a higher
revenue, operating Income, net income, total assets
and total equity.
They have made many more films (in fact, 437 more!)
The genre and target audience for this distribution is
very clear.
Which outperforms the other?
