2. THE RUN
• Well its almost here again; the skeg beach
race has provided some great
entertainment over the years. It has seen
champions crowned, reduced grown men
to tears and destroyed the calves of the
strongest men. So which brave soles are
undertaking the challenge this year, lets
take a look at the runners and riders.
3. Ant ‘Commitment’ O’Sullivan
A big favourite among the locals,
this veteran of the skeg circuit
has experience aswell as
pace. Last years winner he’s
sure to want to retain his title.
Question marks however over
his commitment to the race as
he has been quoted recently
as saying “ I just love Laura
soooooooooo much” will this
unhealthy fascination with his
woman prove his downfall.
ODDS - 7/2
4. Bob ‘Elusive’ Gough
• This lad is a trier if nothing
else. He always turns up for
the race even though he
knows deep down he wont
win. Some say he's just there
for the fish and chips but who
knows. May not even turn up
to skeg as noone has seen
him for months. Must be
considered a rank outsider but
in this race anything can
happen.
• ODDS – 50/1
5. Adam ‘Jine’ Denovan
• A newcomer to this track at
Skegness, used to racing on
grass where has a decent
record. He's relatively
unexposed and could be a real
player if his very low weight
gives him a good start off the
line. Will be hoping for a dry
track to give him the best
possible chance.
• ODDS 9/2
6. Matt ‘Airsoft’ Fletcher
• Was supposed to compete in
last years beach race but
pulled out early after a scuffle
with another runner. Has
experience but may have
found a few better runners in
this race. If he makes it to day
2 without going home it will
take a lot for him to win
• ODDS 30/1
7. Dan ‘Smellon’ House
• Ran a close second last year
and promises to be there or
thereabouts again this year.
Always shows good pace on
this surface and one to watch
for sure. He's up in the weights
by a few pounds after the
handicapper caught up with
him but he's taken to
overcome this rise in weights
and a top 3 finish is a must.
• ODDS 4/1
8. Craig ‘Tank’ Gelsthorpe
• Another veteran of the skeg
circuit, this lad has ran almost
every beach race to date,
without a win it must be said.
Questions are asked about his
massive arse and whether this
is a help or hindrance in this
iconic race. He would snap
your hand of for a top 3 finish
in this very competitive race
this year.
• ODDS 7/1
9. James ‘Bubba’ Marsh
• Lightly raced due to him only
coming to skeg in the last few
years. Carries very little weight
and some have even said he
has a 28” waist errrrrrrrrrrrrrr
This low weight however will
stand him in good stead for
this race. Finished 3rd last
year but claims he was
hampered by Pete Stevenson
(hmmmmmmm) He has gone
on record as saying “im doing
this for Glynis, but mainly for
David Dickinson”
• ODDS 4/1
10. Stephen ‘Stig’ Wood
• Failed to run last year as Larry
the leprechaun had fucked him
over the night before. Many
expect this lad to just make up
the numbers but could be a
dark horse as rumours have it
he’s been hard in training for
this years race. An unknown
quantity for this race but
perhaps some others are just
too good.
• ODDS 15/1
