Celebrate the 12th World T'ai Chi & Qigong Day around the World in 24 hours
Twelve years ago, Bill Douglas and Angela Wong-Douglas had a simple vision. Their conviction was
so strong that they decided to pour their hearts, energy, and savings toward a great cause of
humanity by promoting Taichi T'ai Chi and Chi Gong Qigong around the world. With their tireless
effort, World T'ai Chi & Chi Gong Day WTCQD has grown organically at a fast speed. Last year,
there were 65 countries and hundreds of cities around the world hosted WTCQD event locally at the
last Saturday of April. This year, WTCQD is joining World Congress of Qigon/TCM to promote a
better planet through health and soul. More excitingly, David-Dorian Ross, Dr. T'ai Chi, will be
running a 24-hour marathon online via live streaming. People around the world will be able to
witness these two great events at the ease of their home. This will truly be a Taichi and Chi Gong
summit.
2. As usually, this year's WTCQD event is open to the general public. It will begin in the earliest time
zone of New Zealand at 10 am on Saturday April 24 or 3 pm PDT in San Francisco on Friday April
23. Taichi and Chi Gong participants across Oceania, Asia, Middle East, Africa, Europe, North
America, and South America will start their celebration at 10 am their local time. The final event in
the last time zones of Hawaii is almost an entire day later. Celebrations include mass Tai Chi and Chi
Gong exhibitions in all participating cities, and free classes in most participating cities.
David-Dorian Ross is an American Taichi champion. He has won seven US gold medals, two World
bronze medals, and a World silver medal. Due to his remarkable accomplishments, he has been
nicknamed Dr. T'ai Chi in the international Taichi community. He has been promoting Taichi for
through various channels including co-hosting the 13-part public television series T'ai Chi in
Paradise . In recent years, he utilizes internet and social network media to enhance his promotional
effort to expand the global Taichi community.
David-Dorian and his QNET Martial Arts Channel will host the live show 24 Hours of World Peace ,
and stream the video clips of the celebration from around the world and the World Congress on
Qigong/TCM held in San Francisco, California. Dr. T'ai Chi will also include interviews and special
programs during the marathon. So far, there are 60 countries committed to the live streaming.
Actually, WTCQD is not just a once-a-year event.
1 Educate the world about emerging medical research revealing health benefits that Tai Chi Chuan
and qigong offer.
2 Educate about the increasing use of these ancient traditional Chinese medicine modalities in
business, education, penal and drug rehabilitation.
3 Provide a global vision of cooperation for health & healing purposes across geopolitical
boundaries, and also an appeal to people worldwide to embrace wisdom from all the cultures of the
world.
With these, World T'ai Chi & Qigong Day also acts as a media source for information on Taichi, Chi
Gong, and Chinese Traditional Medicine. It works in conjunction with divergent institutions as the
National Council on the Aging, the National Parkinson's Foundation Annual Conference, the
Fibromyalgia Coalition International, Folsom Prison Maximum Security Prison in California, Rotary
Clubs International, etc. World Tai Chi and Qigong Day events have been recognized by the United
Nations World Health Organization UNWHO for participation in the UNWHO's "Move for Health"
3. movement.
It is quite exciting to see that WTCQD has grown steadily. Now with the joint venture among World
Congress on Qigong/TCM, WTCQD and Dr. David-Dorian Ross, the global Taichi and Chi Gong
community can expect a milestone in Taichi and Chi Gong history this April.
