We want to appreciate our sponsors for making this exercise a success:
- Nice View medical clinic provided lunch, beverages, conference hall and printing services.
- Base Titanium provideduswith facilitators’ allowances, fare for parents and caretakers and 18
occupational therapy equipment.
- Our appreciation also goes to Dr. Stan, who found a sponsor, the Henri Servais Foundation, to
provide us with splinting material (2 sheets of 3.2 mm Orfit, 1 sheet of 2.4 mm Orfit, a roll of
Velcro hook and loop.
- We also appreciate Base Titanium for giving us 1 sheet 3.2 mm to compliment what we had.
Through this we were able tofabricate over 60 splints for 40 patients.
RECOMMENDATIONS
1. More workshops should be rolled out in all sub counties within Kwale county to increase
awareness and defeat retrogressive practices and notions on disabilities
2. Its convenient to pay parents cash instead of using the mobile money transfer for the fare
re- imbursements
3. Having a public address system will increase effectiveness and reduce boredom
4. Having charts and projectors will make it easier for parents to learn
5. We need more establishment of special school which should factor in occupational
therapist, physiotherapists, orthopedic technologists and special education experts
6. Establishment of vocational habilitation centers within Kwale County to increase
accessibility.
7. Provision of hand therapy services should be given a priority
8. Formation of support groups should be encouraged among parents and care takers of
children with cerebral palsy.
