Here are the slides from my workshop for Homestead Presbytery during the education hour, November 21, 2014.
It's goal was to help people get involved in their community and learn to evangelize in a more effective way.
6. What is the goal of evangelism?
How do you do evangelism in
your home church?
What are some of the challenges
to evangelism?
7. First Steps
Read the Bible
– Who does Jesus seek out?
– How does Jesus treat those whom he seeks?
– What is the central theme of Jesus’ message?
– What is the Good News of the Bible calling you to
do as a church body?
– Who is Jesus calling you to seek out?
8. First Steps
Walk the neighborhood around your church
– Notice what you see
– Notice who you see
– Pray for those you see
– Pray for what you hear
– Pray for discernment in how to respond
9. First Steps
Get to know the needs of your community
– Are there gaps in social services?
– Are there groups that are invisible?
– Are there people who feel powerless?
– Are you feeling called to respond to those needs?
– Are you feeling called to a particular group?
10. Now What?
Pray
Get to work

The most important thing, ultimately, is talk
to people about your faith and what Jesus
means to you.
