What is a Project?
A project is a temporary endeavor that helps to
accomplish some specific objective by utilizing definite
interconnected tasks and the effective utilization of
resources.

time specified as well.

Lead & Lag Time
• Lead time causes a successor task to overlap
a predecessor even though they are linked
finish to start (FS).
• Lag time allows you to add a delay between
the start of the successor and the end of the
predecessor.
– Simply specify lead or lag time in the
Predecessor column.
• Lead time is represented with a minus sign (-)
• Lag time is represented with a plus sign (+).

The Critical Path
The Critical path is the flow of tasks, of which,
a delay in any one of these tasks will cause a
delay to the project.
It is the longest path through the project
network diagram and the shortest possible
time to complete the project

Slack is the amount of time that a task can slip before it affects another task
or the project's finish date.

Tracking Project
To control the variations from actual plan (baseline)
we need to track project and continuously check
the health of the project.
• EVM is a financial measurement tool that
combines the conflicting aspects of scope,
schedule and cost into a unified set of metrics.
• These metrics can be used for measuring,
monitoring, reporting and forecasting project
performance. It can be used through all the
phases of a project, from initiation to closure.

four sided as shown.
Each side is to take one day to build and is budgeted
for $1000 per side.
The sides are planed to be completed one after the
other.
