6. Emerging Messages
• Strong support for a specific water goal, with a desire to
set targets at the national level;
• Broad support for the targets, although many
suggestions at the indicator level reflecting country
context;
• Confirmation that the proposed goals and targets are
very much in line with existing national policies;

• Reinforcement that a more integrated and
comprehensive perspective is essential between water
targets, and between water and other proposed goals;
• Positive reinforcement of youth and gender as key
factors in successful implementation; and

The findings of the country consultations will be widely shared, but some of the more specific actions include:
Expert Task Force – convened in Oct 2013Work being undertaken by a variety of research institutions including Oxford University, McMasters University in Canada, University of Massachusettes, Rio de Janeiro under the guidance of the expert task forceGlobal scale research - a new water security metric that extends traditional water per capita concepts with water risk and water variability dimensions.Basin scale research - analysis of the pathways and investments that have been successfully used to provide greater levels of water security.The next stage is to integrate the findings of the country consultations, and bring all the different strands of research together.We expect to have more to say on the research findings in the next few months.
The findings of the country consultations and the research being undertaken will provide the platform for a high level policy dialogue on water and the Post-2015 SDGsHigh Level Panel is being convened, with Her Excellency President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia and Mr Angel Gurría, Secretary General of OECD
The Panel membership will shortly be finalised, and it is expected that the following events will provide an opportunity for these high level policy dialogues.These events will culminate with the launch of the final Global Dialogue report at the 7th World Water Forum in Daegu, South Korea next March
