I am confident my magazine fills the gap in
the market because no other fitness
magazine tackles issues from the media.

Magazine name : PULSE

Also no other magazine tries to find the
most efficient cheapest way of getting fit
without losing quality.

Taboo language : None

It is hard not to have much flesh showing in
photographs because people want to see
what they can get from doing a certain
workout so instead I have to have people
wear t-shits which can hide certain parts
that are important in a magazine of this
genre.

Language used : All ages

Target Audience : Male, 17-24

I have created a unique magazine for them

The target audience caused problems

Audience is unique, no other fitness magazine focused on
the north east.
Client Constraints
• They have local advertising
• Not many big sports brands
• Don’t make big money from advertisement
• Additional readers
• Content must suit all
• Photography must be non explicit

• So…
• My photography will be good for all ages
• No taboo language
• The topics can be good for most reader
groups

Magazine is distributed with the Northern Echo around
the Northern Echo.

Around 40,000 copies are read.

Genre is HEALTH & FITNESS

My ideas were from my personal experiences and struggles

Research changed what I was going to write about also
because I didn’t want to have articles that have already been
done.

Men’s Health influenced my magazine as it is the biggest
fitness magazine

I looked at this magazine to see what features I should
include and what I could do differently.

I used these techniques so I could make the magazine
as unique and different as possible.

The audience is that of readers from the Northern echo that
are

Male & Female readers

Wide range of ages from as low as 20 to 60+

Problems caused:

Content has to be readable for all ages

Language choice has to suit all

Photography must be suitable for everyone

The colour scheme is not aimed at male or females
