Art and community project: Art
school in the Amazon Rainforest.
Main focus of this project:
The development of the “popular art” in the
rural areas linked with the Amazon Rainforest
environments.
It began in 2003 with the creation of the “School
of Art” for native teens and kids of the Amazon
River Community of Puerto Miguel. The project
applies basic principles of the Andean and Native
philosophy for the conservation of the natural
environment.

We develop multiple disciplines of art and handcrafts, like painting,
elaboration of recycle paper, ceramics and wooden sculpture. The project is
trying to use “Art” to recover the traditional culture by using the myths and
legends of the local community.
This project has been catalogued by the National Geographic Magazine as one
of the 100 finalists for the best creative initiatives for social and natural
conservation world wide. Each one of our travelers helps on the development
of this project when they use our service or by obtaining a souvenir from the
local kids of the community.
