Jean-Paul graduated as a civil engineer from Karlsruhe University (Germany) and
                     gained a PhD in transport management from Lincoln University. He has 25 years of
                     professional experience split between consultancies and academia and is currently a
                     senior lecturer at Lincoln University with an expertise and passion in transport &
                     urban planning, multi-modal freight logistics, energy & waste management,
                     associated with a strong link to economics. Prior to academia, Jean-Paul worked for
                     two consultancies in Germany where he specialised in air quality, contaminated sites,
   Jean-Paul Thull   solid waste, infrastructure and project management. Jean-Paul is a Fellow the of the
                     Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT), the CILT southern section
                     chairman, member of CILT BOP committee, academic member of the NZ Institute of
                     Architects (NZIA), the Lincoln University delegate at NERI (National Energy Research
                     Institute) and the newly appointed New Zealand president of the Eastern Asian
                     Society of Transport Studies (EASTS). In his capacities above he enjoys networking
                     and bringing professionals of different expertise together to help shaping a
                     sustainable future for New Zealand with a strong passion for the Bay of Plenty.




                     Greg has a 30 year history in inventory and logistics management. Specifically in the
                     home improvement retail arena he has been involved in stores ranging from 500m2
                     to 10,000m2. Completing his MBA in 2006 he developed an interest in education and
                     moved into this sector specialising in Logistics and Freight then also moving into
                     Strategic Management and Marketing. Greg teaches at both Under Graduate and
     Greg Bold
                     Post Graduate levels and maintains industry currency via a number of directorships
                     within the home improvement retail industry. He has been a Chartered Member of
                     CILT for 3 years and was recently appointed Chair of the BOP / Waikato section. Greg
                     also holds professional memberships with the HR institute of NZ and the Institute of
                     Directors.




                     Marinus works for the NZ Transport Agency as the Portfolio Manager for Freight in
                     the Strategy & Performance Group. He has been at the NZTA since 2009 and before
Marinus LaRooij      that worked for the Ministry of Transport and the Department for Courts. In his time
                     in the transport sector her has worked on aspects of maritime, road, rail and aviation
                     policy matters.




                     Ken commenced as CEO of the Road Transport Forum in July 2010. He has been the
                     CEO of four industry Associations and served 5 terms as a member of Parliament
                     between 1984 and 2005. He is a former Minister of Fisheries and Associate Minister
     Ken Shirley
                     of Agriculture, Forestry and Health. Ken is a Director of GNS Science and the Motor
                     Industry Training Organisation. He is also a member of the Human Rights Review
                     Tribunal.
Cameron is responsible for the Mainfreight International Tauranga Branch in New
                   Zealand comprising our Airfreight, Seafreight, Documentation and Customs
                   Clearance operations.   Mainfreight International is a world class logistics service
                   provider. With annual turnover in excess of $1.5bn per annum and 165 office
                   locations throughout the world.  Expertise include: Export Documentation, Airfreight,
    Cameron Hill   Seafreight, Trade Facilitation. Cameron joined Mainfreight as a member of our
                   graduate intake during 1999, having completed a Bachelor of Management Studies 
                   degree at Waikato University.   Has held a variety of roles at Mainfreight across our
                   Logistics, Domestic Transport and International Air/Ocean Business most recently as
                   Tauranga Branch Manager for Mainfreight Air and Ocean where he has a team of 15
                   and revenue turnover of $9m per annum.




                   Mark Worsley is currently employed as the Dept. General Manager/Operations
                   Manager for Mitsui OSK Lines Ltd (MOL). He has over 20 years experience
                   predominantly in the liner shipping industry, including working for shipping agencies
                   and directly for the owners or principals. He has completed a Masters Degree at
   Mark Worsley    Lincoln University in Transport Management. He was also recently awarded (jointly
                   with with David Kriel) the 2012 CILT – Ministry of Transport award for outstanding
                   achievement at a Masters Level in a research project, dissertation, or thesis for his
                   dissertation on "The Feasibility of Larger Container Vessels of up to 7000 TEU calling
                   in New Zealand”.




                   Steve is chief executive of Pacifica Shipping, part of the Skeggs Group of companies.
                   Based in Auckland he is responsible for Pacifica's two-strong fleet of container
                   vessels as well as its land-based transport, distribution and freight logistics
                   operations.These activities cover the entire domestic freight and distribution market
                   with all forms of surface transport. The coastal shipping services provide regular links
   Steve Chapman   with seven of the country's leading import/export ports. Previously Pacifica’s general
                   manager of operations, Steve took over his current role in early 2011. He began his
                   transport career in the freight forwarding industry 25 years ago. In 1994 he joined
                   Pacifica’s sales team and has held several positions since then, including Pacifica
                   Express terminal manager and Auckland branch manager.Steve enjoys playing golf,
                   fishing, watching rugby and calling a spade a spade.




                   Graeme Marshall is Commercial Manager at Port of Tauranga Limited, whose current
                   portfolio includes management of the port’s operations and the marketing and
                   business development of the Company. Graeme commenced his port career in 1978
                   at Port of Napier as the Port Promotion Officer. He has extensive networks across
                   tourism, freight and logistics, ports and transport and is a director of Auckland based

                   companies involved in transport, warehousing distribution and empty container
                   handling. Graeme is currently the Deputy Chairman of Cruise New Zealand, is on the
                   Governance Board of the economic development group, Bay of Connections and has
                   recently been appointed as the transport representative on the Biosecurity
                   Ministerial Advisory Committee.
In the current National-led Government, Simon is Minister of Consumer Affairs and
                     Associate Minister of Transport and Climate Change Issues. Prior to standing for
                     Parliament, Simon was a Senior Crown Prosecutor in the District and High Courts.
                     Educated at University of Auckland, completing a BA(Political Science and History)
                     and LLB(Hons). He received a Senior Law Prize. Later completing a Bachelor of Civil
                     Law at University of Oxford. He also went to London School of Economics and
                     worked as an intern at the British House of Commons after receiving the Chevening-
Hon. Simon Bridges   Hansard Society Fellowship. Simon was elected in 2008 as MP for Tauranga, he was
                     successful again in 2011 winning his seat with the 5th highest majority support in NZ.
                     While Simon has worked across a number of issues, 2010 noted a significant
                     achievement for him. Initiating a Private Members Bill to amend the Animal Welfare
                     Act so that animal cruelty is better dealt with by the Courts. This legislative change
                     quickly developed grassroots support and became a Government bill. The Animal
                     Welfare Amendment Bill toughened the regime for offending against animals in a
                     comprehensive way and became law 1 July 2010.



                     Campbell is a Transport and Logistics executive with 17 years business experience. 
                     Campbell started his career as a Sales Executive selling new business for CourierPost
                     and moved to Regional Sales Manager taking on the responsibility of all sales activity
                     in the Wellington Region.  Campbell then moved in a range of operational roles
                     running key regional,  branch and terminal logistics activities at which he gained
                     valuable leadership skills in operational performance, contract management, process
                     improvement, KPI management and people leadership.  In 1999 Campbell relocated
                     to Auckland and became the Northern Regional Manager for CourierPost.  Following

                     the purchase of SkyRoad and XP brands by New Zealand Post, Campbell played a lead
                     role in integrating the operational activities into one entity.  Campbell was promoted
                     to National Operations Manager CourierPost with prime accountability for the
                     establishment of a new state of the art operating facility at Highbrook.  In 2008
                     Campbell was promoted to General Manager of a newly acquired entity of Express
                     Couriers  namely Roadstar Transport.   For the last 2 years Campbell has transferred
                     his leadership and logistics skills to the rail industry in his role as Regional Manager
                     KiwiRail Freight.



                     Barry is a Principal Advisor in Highways Network Operations NZTA for the
                     Waikato/Bay of Plenty region. He has 40 years experience in civil and transportation
                     engineering and has managed State Highway network assets in South Auckland,
                     Waikato and Bay of Plenty for 20 of those years. He has been involved in the
                     investigation stage of many large roading projects including Katikati, Te Puke, Huntly
                     and Te Rapa bypasses, as well as Kopu bridge. During his 13 years of managing the
   Barry Dowsett     East Waikato network, he also managed a significant number of roading
                     improvements including completing seal extension of SH25 around the Coromandel
                     Peninsula and development of the Whitianga bypass. More recently he has returned
                     to Transport Planning and is managing Hamilton Southern Links investigation, as well
                     as a number of highway strategic studies for SH1 and SH29 over the Kaimai ranges.
                     He has been involved in developing Regional Land Transport Strategies and
                     programmes for both BoP and Waikato.
Mike has spent over 30 years in the forest industry, 20 of which were spent driving
               and owning log trucks. In the later years while still owning his own company, Mike
               managed and sat on the boards of several larges scale transport companies specific
               to log cartage and provided logistical services to a number of forest companies. He
               then crossed the fence and took a role with one of the large corporate forest owners
               at the time, Fletcher Challenge Forests and eventually heading their log logistics

               team. Following the sale of the FCF forest estate Mike took up a role with PF Olsen,
               one of the companies employed to manage a large part of what was the FCF estate,
               on behalf of two large international investors initially looking after the transport and
               logistics aspect but now oversees the management of the Harvest Planning,
               Engineering, Harvesting and distribution functions for the same client base, with an
               annual harvest of 1.7 million tonne.




               Ian has been involved in the New Zealand Kiwifruit industry in various roles for the
               last 23 years. Starting with the coordination of transport resources for the loading of
               chartered reefer vessels, this was followed by a senior operations role at a large post-
               harvest business, which then led onto a General Manager’s role for one of the
               industry supply company’s providing fruit to Zespri as the industry’s Exporter, this
Ian Mearns
               role involved negotiation of major industry supply agreements and operating
               systems. For the last six years Ian has been General Manager of Tauranga Kiwifruit
               Logistics which operates the New Zealand on-shore logistics functions from the
               coolstores / packhouse’s to where our product is loaded onto a vessel for export. The
               business operates at various ports around the country.




               Daniel is the Secretary of the Importers Institute and a past president of the New
               Zealand and world federations of Customs Brokers. He is a principal of DSL Logistics
Daniel Silva   Ltd, a firm of 3PL service providers, Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders that he
               founded in 1986 and has offices and distribution centres in Auckland and a software
               subsidiary that specialises in solutions for forwarders and importers.




               Married with three adult daughters much of my career has been supervising and
               managing technical operations in New Zealand and offshore. These operations have
               included, marine related projects, mineral, environmental and materials laboratories,
               environmental rectification projects and cargo surveying. Returning to New Zealand
               in 1992 Ken led the team that established Coastal Tankers Limited, a joint venture
               company owned by BP Caltex Mobil and Shell. This company consolidated and
               reformed segments of the New Zealand oil supply chain and operated and traded
               four ocean going oil tankers. After a spell managing the Nelson Port Company and
               then seven years working with CentrePort, Ken spent time managing P&O Port’s New
Ken Harris     Zealand operations and then headed the NZ Quarantine service leaving in 2006 to be
               part of the buy out of P&O Port’s New Zealand. This business now trades as NZL
               group. Ken holds or have recently held various directorships in the bio-security,
               marine, aviation and transport businesses here and in Australia and assisted with
               aspects of world cup management and the regional EMA and Chamber of commerce
               operations. Between 1996 and 2003 he completed an MBS and MBA with Massey
               and undertook post graduate study at Insead’s Fontainebleau Campus in 2003. He
               retains a share holding in NZL and spends time with the management team each
               week although this does compete with the time available to be with the family which
               includes a beautiful new aeroplane hangered at Whenuapai. .

During his 13 years of managing the Barry Dowsett East Waikato network, he also managed a significant number of roading improvements including completing seal extension of SH25 around the Coromandel Peninsula and development of the Whitianga bypass. More recently he has returned to Transport Planning and is managing Hamilton Southern Links investigation, as well as a number of highway strategic studies for SH1 and SH29 over the Kaimai ranges. He has been involved in developing Regional Land Transport Strategies and programmes for both BoP and Waikato.
  • 4. Mike has spent over 30 years in the forest industry, 20 of which were spent driving and owning log trucks. In the later years while still owning his own company, Mike managed and sat on the boards of several larges scale transport companies specific to log cartage and provided logistical services to a number of forest companies. He then crossed the fence and took a role with one of the large corporate forest owners at the time, Fletcher Challenge Forests and eventually heading their log logistics Mike Spiers team. Following the sale of the FCF forest estate Mike took up a role with PF Olsen, one of the companies employed to manage a large part of what was the FCF estate, on behalf of two large international investors initially looking after the transport and logistics aspect but now oversees the management of the Harvest Planning, Engineering, Harvesting and distribution functions for the same client base, with an annual harvest of 1.7 million tonne. Ian has been involved in the New Zealand Kiwifruit industry in various roles for the last 23 years. Starting with the coordination of transport resources for the loading of chartered reefer vessels, this was followed by a senior operations role at a large post- harvest business, which then led onto a General Manager’s role for one of the industry supply company’s providing fruit to Zespri as the industry’s Exporter, this Ian Mearns role involved negotiation of major industry supply agreements and operating systems. For the last six years Ian has been General Manager of Tauranga Kiwifruit Logistics which operates the New Zealand on-shore logistics functions from the coolstores / packhouse’s to where our product is loaded onto a vessel for export. The business operates at various ports around the country. Daniel is the Secretary of the Importers Institute and a past president of the New Zealand and world federations of Customs Brokers. He is a principal of DSL Logistics Daniel Silva Ltd, a firm of 3PL service providers, Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders that he founded in 1986 and has offices and distribution centres in Auckland and a software subsidiary that specialises in solutions for forwarders and importers. Married with three adult daughters much of my career has been supervising and managing technical operations in New Zealand and offshore. These operations have included, marine related projects, mineral, environmental and materials laboratories, environmental rectification projects and cargo surveying. Returning to New Zealand in 1992 Ken led the team that established Coastal Tankers Limited, a joint venture company owned by BP Caltex Mobil and Shell. This company consolidated and reformed segments of the New Zealand oil supply chain and operated and traded four ocean going oil tankers. After a spell managing the Nelson Port Company and then seven years working with CentrePort, Ken spent time managing P&O Port’s New Ken Harris Zealand operations and then headed the NZ Quarantine service leaving in 2006 to be part of the buy out of P&O Port’s New Zealand. This business now trades as NZL group. Ken holds or have recently held various directorships in the bio-security, marine, aviation and transport businesses here and in Australia and assisted with aspects of world cup management and the regional EMA and Chamber of commerce operations. Between 1996 and 2003 he completed an MBS and MBA with Massey and undertook post graduate study at Insead’s Fontainebleau Campus in 2003. He retains a share holding in NZL and spends time with the management team each week although this does compete with the time available to be with the family which includes a beautiful new aeroplane hangered at Whenuapai. .
