2. Step 1 Confirm your acceptance Please contact the Office of Graduate Admissions as soon as possible to confirm your acceptance: 716-645-2110 or 366 Baldy Hall, Buffalo NY 14260. Step 2 Select your classes Make a list of the courses you plan to take, along with the course registration numbers. The registration numbers are online at http://src.buffalo.edu/schedule/ Go to step 3
3. Step 3 Register for classes The first time you register you should use the BIRD Telephone Registration System. 1. Call BIRD at 716-645-7800. You will immediately be asked to select the menu item you would like to use. Press 1 for Registration Drop/Add. 2. You will then be prompted to enter your social security number and then the pound ( # ) sign. BIRD will ask you for your 4-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN). Your first-time PIN has been set to the 2-digit month and 2-digit day of your birth. For example, if your birthday is July 9th your PIN would be 0709. 3. Immediately after you enter this information, BIRD requests you to “select your PIN”. You must now enter a new, private PIN to replace the initial PIN. Once you have set your PIN and successfully passed this Identifier Number/PIN security check, the application you selected will begin. 4. Follow the instructions BIRD gives to register for classes. Go to step 4
4. Step 4 Get your UBCard Once you have registered for classes you can get your UBCard. You will need your UBCard to access your UB Email account and to use many other University services, including those online. To receive a UB Card you must be currently registered for classes. You also need a picture ID such as a driver’s license or a passport. The UB Card office is located in Room 101 of the UB Commons on the North Campus. Please visit the UBCard website to find their hours of operation: http://www.myubcard.com/ If you are out of the area and cannot get to campus to obtain your UBCard before the fall semester, you may submit a photo online to have the card ready for you once you get to campus. You must have a photo ID to pick up the card. To submit a photo for your card, please access the following link: http://www.myubcard.com/index.php?callpage=pictureupload Please note that having your card before you begin classes is not required, but highly recommended. 5. Step 5 Get Your UBITName and password Your UBITName is your computer username at UB. It is your key to access your UB email, MyUB, and other online services. Your UBITName is automatically created when you are admitted to UB. Find your UBITName online at: http://www.buffalo.edu/directory/find-yourself-page.html If you’ve never used your account, your UBITName password should be your 4-digit birthday (mmdd) followed by the last six digits of your UBCard number (under your picture). For instance, if your birthday is July 9 th and the last six digits of your UBCard are 123456, then your password should be 0709123456. Securing your password is very important, as confidential and sensitive information is protected by that password. Go to step 6
6. Step 6 Activate your UB Email Your UBIT name and password are the username and password for your UB email account. You can access your email account at http:// webmail.buffalo.edu / You will not be able to send or receive email until your have activated your email account. 1. When you open your UB email the first time you will have a message from the CIT-Help Desk. In the message is a link to http://www.cit.buffalo.edu/mail/ 2. Follow the link and under the heading SERVICES click on TURN ON YOUR MAIL. Enter your UBITName and Password to turn on your account. 3. Under the SERVICES heading you can forward your UB Email to another email account if you have one. Please make sure to do this if you are not going to use your UB email regularly. Please note that email from your department will be sent ONLY to your UB email address. Go to steps 7 & 8
7. Step 7 Parking on Campus and Transportation All students wishing to park on university campuses are required to register their motor vehicles annually with Parking and Transportation Services. Registration is fast and easy online at http:// myub.buffalo.edu . Student parking is by permit only, which can also be obtained on MyUB. We strongly encourage you to obtain a parking permit before you arrive on campus for classes.
