Notes de l'éditeur

  1. Welcome to the 2013 Fall Product Sale Training especially designed for Troop Leaders.
  2. GSUSA approves each council to participate in 2 sales per girl. GSKWRC uses the magazine, nut and candy sale in the fall and of course, the Cookie Sale in the Spring. Our council’s Fall Product Sale is focused on a great learning experience for girls, as well as important financial funding for the council and for troops. Troops that participated averaged $300 in troop proceeds last year.
  3. This year, the theme for the sale is BE YOUR BEST YOU! And teaches girls how to grow their skills in product sales. Blossom is the nickname for the bee mascot.
  4. Each troop receives two education and fun program activity posters. Troops can use these at their troop meetings which will help girls get geared up and ready for the sale.
  5. Additional online program activities for the girls and your troop meeting can be found at www.whatcanagirldo.com
  6. The beauty of the fall product sale is that everything is already included in one girl packet for the parents and the girls. You just need to make sure the girl is currently a registered member and that the parent signs the permission form. Girls that owe a debt from past product sales MAY NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE SALE. If you are unsure of a past debt, contact your membership specialist.
  7. Troops make 15% on everything they sale (nuts, candy and magazines). This year, we are offering troops an additional 3% for all online magazine orders. Troops can also earn shop credit which can come in handy when purchasing those back to troop supplies. For every girl that turns in a completed Step 2 booklets, the troop makes $3 in shop credit.
  8. The sequence on how your girls should sell looks like this: First parents/girls should send email to their friends and family offering option to purchase magazines. They can also include the nuts/candy for customers to make a nut promise. Remember, that nuts and candy can be marketed online, but the girl still has to add it to their nut card, delivery the product and collect the money. Next, girls sell in person by using the nut/candy order card and also the magazine booklet along with the magazine order forms. Last, girls should complete the address booklet and turn it into their leader. All of these should happen NOT BEFORE SEPTEMBER 30 th !
  9. Kids love magazines. Parents should be encouraged to order magazines for their kids as potential b-day gifts, holiday gifts, etc. Every kid LOVES magazines.
  10. Most people think that the school sales are consuming most of the magazine orders. Based on the national data, schools only consume 5% of all the magazine sales in the US. That means that there is a huge market potential for magazine sales.
  11. The online magazine program begins on September 30 th as well. Parents should click on the link found directly on the ONLINE SALES FLYER In their packet of materials OR they can go to www.gskentucky.org and click on the green box that says Magazine/Nut Online Program. That will take you directly to the website to market your magazine sales. Leaders should do this as well so they will be able to view all their girl online orders for their troop.
  12. Once parents/girls put in the email addresses, the online magazine program works by itself sending out reminder emails to all every week for 3 weeks. Parents/girls will receive a notification when a customer has made a purchase.
  13. Your will first CREATE AN ACCOUNT
  14. THEN personalize your daughter’s landing page.
  15. Enter in the email addresses for those you want to solicit.
  16. The customer will receive an email similar to this.
  17. You also have the option of linking it to facebook and twitter. By doing this, you have a greater success of sharing the link to a much larger group of people and all the purchases stay directly with your daughter.
  18. Parents/girls will be able to set their own goals.
  19. You will also be able to add in a NUT ORDER OPTION for customers to make a nut promise. For nut promises made online, the girl will still need to add these onto her order card, delivery the product and collect the money.
  20. At the end of the sale, the parent/girl will receive the online sales report (formally know as the detailed sales summary). Parents should forward this report to you so you can add the totals into the NUT E. New this year! If the leader registers through this same online site, the leader will be able to generate her own girl’s sales reports (as long as everyone keys in the correct troop number).
  21. Girls can also sell magazines in person from the CATALOG. They collect the money in the form of a check or money order made out to the TROOP NUMBER and turns it in to the troop leader.
  22. There are plenty of magazines for customers to choose from.
  23. The order form is a 3 part NCR form. The customer should keep the pink copy and the girl should turn in the YELLOW AND WHITE copies to the troop leader. Customers should use blue or black ink and have all information neatly completed.
  24. For the Address Booklets, 10 out of 11 pages should be completely filled out with REAL NAMES AND ADDRESSES. Only one booklet should be submitted for each girl.
  25. The address booklets are then made into postcards and sent out by QSP in January to all the names submitted in the booklet.
  26. So many benefits to the Step 2 Booklet – takes less than 10 minutes, no money collect, no product to deliver, Girls love earning the patch and the troop makes $3 shop credit for every completed booklet. Every girl can easily do this!
  27. There are 16 nut/candy items for girls to sell beginning September 30. Items range between $5 - $8. The more the items cost, the more the troop will make.
  28. One new item for the 2013 sale sure to be a hot seller is the Girl Scout Flower Pot Tin filled with Caramel Treasurers. It sells for $8.
  29. Another new item sure to be a big hit for the holidays and as teacher gifts is the Holiday Tin filled with Chocolate Covered Pretzels. Sells for $8
  30. Customers can support our military. Customers will pay the Girl Scout $5. Council ships military items directly. Troops do not have to touch the product they just collect the money. The girl and troops receive the profits. If a Girl Scout sells 5 or more, she will earn the SHARE patch.
  31. Reminders for Troop Delivery! Delivery happens November 19 th or 20 th . You will need to contact your SU Fall product Sale Manager to find out your exact date and location of delivery for your troop.
  32. All the patches interconnect to each other.
  33. Recognitions are really awesome this year and are earned by DOLLARS SOLD (nuts, candy and magazines combined)! They are voted on by girls and girls have choices on many of the levels. Remember that Juniors now have a choice (majority vote) to opt out of the recognitions and take an additional 5% in troop profit along with the older girl troops. We have also added a new level this year since we had so many girls hit $1,000 sales. We have added the $1,200 level and girls who reach this will earn this awesome teal level lamp. All recognitions are cumulative!
  34. We need all girls participating in the sale in every level!
  35. A good way to motivate your parents is to tie in troop supplies to what they have to sell in order for the troop to purchase these items. i.e. --- it takes 10 cans to pay for a Journey Book.
  36. Read above information
  37. Read above information.
  38. Distribute form and receive back immediately. Troops MUST SIGN this form in order to participate.
  39. Troop leaders must have parents fill out the parent permission form PRIOR to the sale. The troop leader needs to hold onto this form until the end of the sale. Council will need this form back if a parent FAILS to pay the leader.
  40. The UDF form is used by troop leaders to turn in parents that failed to pay them by the deadline date. The form must be sent in (emailed, faxed or snail mailed) to Carolyn McNerney NO LATER THAN DECEMBER 13 th . Supporting documentation must be attached (receipts, parent permission, and any other form of communication of trying to collect the debt).
  41. Read information above.
  42. The Nut E is the online program that each troop leader will use to: enter their girl orders (nuts, candy and magazine totals) enter their girl recognition choices enter their girl financial transactions Go to www.ashdonfarmsnute.com

  48. Start by entering in all the information for that girl from left to right. Click SAVE when complete.
  49. Once each girl’s order is saved, the recognitions will show up on the bottom. The system will populate based on the sale totals. If there is a choice between a recognition item, you will select her choice. Ask the girls to circle on their order card in the beginning what they would like to earn if they hit that level – that will make it easier for you during the entering process.
  50. Lastly, click YES to save that girl’s order. You will still be able to edit it later (before the deadline) if you need to.
  51. Do not click SUBMIT. This is lock out the troop from being able to edit up until the deadline. If you don’t click SUBMIT, it will automatically be submitted after the deadline date.
