Ivory Coast is located in West Africa and borders Liberia, Guinea, Mali, Burkina Faso and Ghana. Its capital and largest city is Yamoussoukro, which has a population of 95,000. Ivory Coast has a population of around 18 million people. The country has a strong football tradition and some famous players, including Didier Drogba of Chelsea. The current president, Laurent Gbagbo, was elected in 2003 and has overseen a reduction in skin cancer deaths and doubling of annual income, improving the country's economic ranking globally in just six years.
