3. Selling Line I like the selling line of this magazine, as it relates to music. Its also a decorative font to add emphasis to the selling line. Masthead I like the masthead of this magazine, as it is short and catchy. The font and colour of this is simple and readable. Main Cover Lines The main cover line of this magazine is in a sans serif font, which is usually used for the main headlines on magazines. I like this main cover line as it stands out and relates to the overall topic of the magazine which is music. The reason why they have written ’10 years in music’ is to celebrate this and show it off by publishing it on the NME magazine. Cover Lines/Explanatory Text I like the cover lines and the explanatory text on this magazine, as the colours connect with the selling line as well as the masthead. The red black and red colour scheme works really well together. The cover lines are also in decorative font to make it easier and simpler to read for the audience.
4. Date The date is presented on the barcode. I think this isn't a good idea as the readers might not be able to see what the date is of the magazine. However, for this magazine I think this is a god idea as all the other information is on the barcode. Price I like the date on the barcode as other information are placed here. As well as that, the price is a bit small, so it is not noticeable for the audience/readers to read or buy. Website By having the website address on the magazine, it will be easy for the audience/readers to go on the website and check out the magazine online for more information . This isn't a main convention of a magazine, however I think this is a good idea overall, and like the part where they have placed it. Barcode I like the barcode, as this is a main convention of a magazine. By having a barcode, the magazine looks complete with it and looks more professional and realistic. Images On this magazine, there isn't a main image to look at, however there are several images which relates to the model credit which are placed on the magazine of the cover lines/ From loads of images being placed on the magazine, I think especially for this type of music magazine, is a good idea as music is not just about one person, but different artists. By having loads of images of different artists, the audience/readers will be more interested other than looking at one image of a specific artist.
5. Overall, the reason why I like this magazine is that the Masthead, is bold and big so then it stands out to the audience, as well as the selling line relating to the Masthead. Also, another reason why I like this magazine is because of the colour scheme (red, black, white) as they all go together and connect in either the Masthead or the cover lines. I also like the convention of the barcode on the bottom left third, as it makes the magazine look professional and realistic. Finally another reason why I like this magazine, is because it includes a variety of different artists, not just one from a specific genre but from different ones. I also like the eye flow of this magazine, as it attracts the audience from the left to the bottom of the magazine and then goes back up to the left. Mode Of Address : The mode of address is indirect language as the magazine is not directly talking to the audience. Register: The register of this magazine is formal, as the text is written in a more presentable and formal way
6. However, there are things that I don't like about this magazine. The reasons why I don't like this magazine is that the layout of the magazine looks a bit random and not professional. As well as that, people may not relate to this magazine, as they may not be interested in this, as they may not recognise the artists on the front cover. Also, you are not able to see what the main cover line and the cover lines / explanatory line are, as they don't stand out that much.
