In 2005, almost 1.4 billion people lived below the international poverty line, earning less than $1.25 per day
Today our world is home to 6.7 billion people 1.02 billion people across the world are hungry Every day 34,000 children die from hunger Most of these deaths are attributed, not to outright starvation, but to diseases that move in on vulnerable children whose bodies have been weakened by hunger
166 million children under the age of 14 – child labour
Who do you think made your designer jeans?
Next time your freely kicking your football on the green grass give a thought to were it was made
1 out of 7 children are labourers 166 million are under 14 74 million risk there lives in dangerous jobs(e.g. Mining and construction) Over a quarter of all child labour is in Africa and there 1 in 3 children have to work
So when you wish you didn't have to go to school today take a look around you and think... you have a chance they don't. Don’t take your opportunities for granted
There are currently 300,000 children fighting in armed conflict around the world
To many facts? just one more... Children are our future.
