2. 1) In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? Shot 1- Institutions Shot 2- mise en scene Shot 3-Intertextual reference The institutions would want their logo shown at the start of the trailer while it has everyone's full attention. I have added two institutions at the start because this is the general trend of films. My other institution was SCAR films. I got the inspiration for this name from the institution used in Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels which used SKA films. These pictures were created using photo shop to make it look more professional and eye catching I think this shot has great mise en scene because it is the title of the film which actually shows you what the film is going to be about. The black background draws your attention to the text. The text background is of ‘Sal’ and ‘Carl’ collecting the money from the poker game. This shows that there will be people playing poker and that there will be money involved in the plot of the film. So not only does the title tell you what the trailer is about but is also shows you too. This shot has great intertextuality from snatch. This is how snatch introduce their characters at the end of the trailer. I think this is a good way to introduce the characters because they are the only people in the frame so you definitely know who they are. You can also make it more personal by having them shown in a specific way such as this picture of ‘Carl’ shows that he is week and vulnerable because there is a high angle of him tied to a chair.

3. Shot number 4 to 6 Shot 4- flashback Shot 5- camera angle Shot 6- camera angle This shot is of a flashback which is of ‘Carl’ and ‘Sal’ burying the briefcase full of money from ‘Vinnie’. I have tried to make it obvious that it is a flashback by having it in black and white. It had the lighting to be bright to make sure that you would be able to see it when I changed it to black and white. The mise in scene also shows that they are in a quite empty place to show that it is something important that they are burying. This camera angle is a low angle to represent ‘Vinnie’ as being powerful and important. The way that ‘Vinnie’ is looking down on ‘Carl’ makes ‘Carl’ seem insignificant compared to him. By doing this shot it has helped to show the hierarchy of the people in my trailer. The generic conventions that I have applied to my work is that all my characters are dressed up in suits and ties like you would expect to see in gangster films. This camera shot has been used to show important thing that have happened. In this case it is a close up of ‘Carl’ steeling a wallet from someone's pocket. This follows the generic conventions of gangster films because they involve crime and most have steeling in the film somewhere. I have highlighted the importance of the wallet being stolen because it shows the desperation that ‘Carl’ is in to get the money back

4. Shot number 7 to 9 Shot 9- intertextuality Shot 7- intertextuality Shot 8- music This shot is an important part of the trailer because it is where the poker game changes from being small amounts of money but it is where ‘Carl’ says he is going to go all in. This means that for people to match him they will have to put all their money in. This makes it tense because they could loose everything. I have changed the non digetic music from a reasonably fast paced track to a faster paced track to highlight importance and to build tension This shot shows you intertextuality because both my dealer and the dealer from Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels are women. Also all the people playing poker are men. This is because the gangster lifestyle of poker, money, crime, killing etc are seen as a mans job and not a women's job. This also shows that the males are the dominant gender and are seen to have more power in gangster films and women are seen more as objects than equals. In this shot ‘Carl’ wins the poker game because he has the best hand. This game is worth all the money because everyone went all in so I have slowed it down to show the importance. Intertextuality is shown in this shot because it has been slowed down just like Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels did for their card scene.

5. Film poster My film poster has kept to the three colour rule that is very apparent in American gangster films . I have decided that even though British gangster film posters are colourful I thought it looked best with the red white and black colour scheme

6. Magazine front cover I also thought the red, white and black colour scheme was very effective in the magazine front cover. I have based my layout of the magazine front cover on the Empire magazine front covers, in particular the pubic enemy one below.
