Media studies involves analyzing various media formats like print, television, videos, internet pages, and magazines to understand what is being shown, where, why, when, and how, rather than just watching for entertainment. Students are asked to answer questions about common film techniques like the most common shot used to establish a scene, what a POV is, when a BCU or ECU is used, what a cutaway is and when it is used, examples of camera angles, and whether a tracking shot is a camera angle or movement.
