Compute of linear inequalities:

.: Explanation:

New inequalities for a given inequalities when the number is
      a. added to
      b. substracted from
c. multiply by a number
        d. divided by a number
In one operation the inequality must add or substracted or multiply or devide on both side.
Example:

1) 2<4 ×2

.: 2×2 < 4 ×2

                 4< 8

2) 3>0 ÷3

.: 3/3 > 0/3

            1>0

3) 14 ≥ 7 +2

          14 + 2 ≥ 7 + 2

     .: 16 ≥9

4) –3 ≥ –4 -4

          –3–4 ≥ –4–4

 .: – 7 ≥ –8

  • 1. PANITIA MATEMATIK Nama Guru : Pn. Umrah Dalimun M/Pelajaran : Mathematics Tingkatan : 3 KAA Topic : Linear Inequalities Time : 80 minutes Learning Area : Linear Inequalities Learning Outcome: 1. Identify the relationship a. greater than b. less than base on given situations c. using the symbols / sign “ > ” or “ < ” and “ ≥ ” or “ ≤ ” 2. Identify the relationship between 2 given number a. greater than or equal to b. less than or equal to base on given situations Learning Objectives: 1. student be able to understand and use the concept of inequalities 2. student be able to understand and use the concept of linear inequalities in one unknown 3. understand the sign “ > ” or “ < ” and “ ≥ ” or “ ≤ ” Learning Activities: Time Activities Achievement Step 1 1. Explain the sign in linear inequalities Student must know the (10 minutes ) i. greater than differences of the sign ii. < less than iii. ≥ greater than or equal to * notes: iv. ≤ less than or equal to Gives more example until student understand 2. Give the examples ini numbers a. 5 > 3 b. 4 < 7 c. -5 < -3 d. -4 > -7 Known as equivalent inequalities
  • 2. Step 2 1.Represented a linear inequality on a number Student achieve the sign in ( 10 minutes ) line number lines a. X > 2 1 2 3 4 b. X > 6 6 7 8 9 c. X < -1 -4 -3 -2 -1 d. X < 10 7 8 9 10 Step 3 1. Represented a linear inequality on a number Student must know the ( 10 minutes ) line differences of sign a. X ≥ 3 2 3 4 5 6 7 or b. X ≤ -1 -3 -2 -1 0 c. X ≥ -8 -8 -7- -6 d. X ≤ 10 7 8 9 10 Step 4 1. Explain the answer of inequalities: Student must find the ( 10 minutes ) example: differences of the answer . a. X < 5 .: X = 4 , 3 , 2 , 1 , 0 …….. To solve it student must know how to draw a number line to find the answer b. X > 3 .: X = 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 , …….. c. X < 5⅓ .: X = 5 ,4 , 3 , 2 ,1 , ……….. d X > 5⅓ .: X = 6 , 7 , 8, 9 , ………….
  • 3. e. X < -4.5 .: X = -5 , -6 , -7 , ……….. f. X > -4.5 .: X = -4 , -3 , -2 , -1 , …… Step 5 Do the exercise on books: ( 20 minutes ) Ask the selected student to 1. Choose the correct answer as the example answer the questions one by given below: one. Example: The selected student will < 3+3+3 3³ ( > , < ) choose the correct answer using the computer. Teacher will ask another a. 2/5 1/3 (>,<) student if the answer is incorrect and ask why the b. 1.2 kg 140 gram (>,<) answer is incorrect. c. 6m 40 cm (>,<) Student will answer the quaestion d. 23 31 (>,<) e. -42 -53 (>,<) Teacher ask the students to 2. Draw the number line to answer the answer the next question in questions: their exercise books a. X > 2.4 After 10 minutes teacher will b. X < 1.5 give the answer to the student. c. X > 5 d. X < 0.2 e. X < 5⅓ f. X > 2½ g. X ≤ 2.4 h. X ≥ 2 i. X ≥ -1.5 The answer must be write in numbers and
  • 4. number line a. X > 2.4 2 3 4 5 6 X = 3 , 4 , 5 ,6 ,… b. X < 1.6 -2 -1 0 1 2 3 X = 1 , 0 , -1 , -2 , … c. X ≥ 3.5 1 2 3 4 5 6 X = 4 , 5 , 6 ……….. d. X ≤ 1.4 1.1 1.2 1.3 1.4 1.5 1.6 X = 1.4 , 1.3 , 1.2 , 1.1 , …. Compute of linear inequalities: .: Explanation: New inequalities for a given inequalities when the number is a. added to b. substracted from
  • 5. c. multiply by a number d. divided by a number In one operation the inequality must add or substracted or multiply or devide on both side. Example: 1) 2<4 ×2 .: 2×2 < 4 ×2 4< 8 2) 3>0 ÷3 .: 3/3 > 0/3 1>0 3) 14 ≥ 7 +2 14 + 2 ≥ 7 + 2 .: 16 ≥9 4) –3 ≥ –4 -4 –3–4 ≥ –4–4 .: – 7 ≥ –8 Reflction : Student know how to state the numbers by one unknown in a linear inequalities. Exercises: 1) Represent the following linear inequalities on a number line a) p≤5 b) d ≥ –1
  • 6. c) s < –6 d) x ≤ – 10 2) Write an inequallitiy based on each number line below a. c. -2 -1 0 1 2 3 b. 6 7 8 9 c. 3 4 5 6 7 8 d. -05 -04 -03 -02 - 01 0 3) Write a linear inequality base on each situation below a. It takes shelly move than 20 minutes to complete her home work b. A force of at least 10 N is required to lift the load c. To qualify for the 100 M race you must clock not more than 11 seconds d. The distance from Hisham’s house to the bus station is less than 500M 4) Form a new inequality from the given inequalityby performing the operation stated in brackets. a. 4 < 6 [ +5 ] b. –3 < 5 [ –2 ]
  • 7. c. –10 > –15 [ × – 2 ] d. – 4 > – 16 [ ÷ 4 ] e. – 2 < 10 [×–3] f. 10 > – 4 [÷–2]
