In its blog, Mr. Brune's 4th grade class at Mamaroneck Avenue School in Mamaroneck, New York, created an online commentary on today's news stories.” I think this is a really great use for blogs in the elementary school classroom. It is sometimes hard for younger children to understand what is happening in the world, and with this they can collaborate and understand it together. Although all of these articles are about different aspects of blogging, they all come back to one universal fact: Blogging gets kids more excited about writing, because they are now sharing their work with a worldwide audience. They can now have feedback, other facts, and additions to their work, al by other people. It is a fantastic form of collaborative learning. Blogs can be used for everything, from scientific inquiry, to personal opinion, and everything in between. It is useful to all ages, and I think it is an extremely useful tool that every teacher should try to use.
