The document describes revisions made to the table of contents page for a music magazine called "Flava." Key details include:
- Placing the magazine cover image and title "Flava" on the left third of the page.
- Adding editorial pillars ("News, Features, Music") and 2-4 cover lines below each pillar.
- Including an editorial letter and image of featured artist "Pretty In Pink" on the right third.
- Revising layout and formatting elements like fonts, sizes, alignments to improve professional appearance and readability.
2. From using my mock up of my table of contents, I have decided to put the image of my front cover on the top left third, as this is a convention which is used by many music magazines especially ‘NME.’ I also made sure that I aligned this to the left of the page. I have also decided to place the name of my music magazine ‘Flava’ on the contents page, so then readers are aware of what the magazine is called. I also put up a box, in which my editorial letter will be. An editorial letter, is written by the editor of the magazine, which in this case is me. I will write a bit about the magazine and what it features, leading the readers on to read more. I have placed a heading called ‘Contents Page’ so then the readers know what the page is about and what the music magazine consists of.
3. By looking at other magazine, I used a convention which is used quite a bit. I have used a slug placed above the text, so then it separated the two headings. On the top, I have written the month and year of the magazine., the issue number and the website name. This is used so then customers are aware of this information, and can check out more information on their website. I have deleted the ‘page’ of the ‘contents page’ so then it will only say ‘contents’ due to the fact that readers already know that this is a page. I also changed the font of this to stand it out more. I have decided to editorial pillars so then I can place my cover lines underneath them. I have decided to use three editorial pillars, of ‘News, Features, Music.’ I have decided to change the layout of my editorial letter, and decided to place it on the right third, so then the white space is taken up by this, so then the contents page is not packed up with lots of information. I have decided to have an image of the girl group ‘Pretty In Pink’ and will be on the right third taking up most of the white space. This is there, so then the readers are aware of the fact that the girl group are featured in the music magazine. Underneath each editorial pillar, I put around two cover lines. This will keep readers occupied and entertained with the information provided. I have also entered in an offer for the customers so then they are able to get discount on their subscription of Flava magazine. This will help boost up their reputation with the customers.
4. I added more cover lines underneath each editorial pillars, making sure that there was at least four. I also made sure that the page number suit and connect with the whole magazine. I also made sure that I aligned all the cover lines and editorial pillars so then it looks more professional. I added text on my editorial letter, writing what features in the magazine and what to expect of this music magazine. I used the grid, to make sure that the text is aligned to make it stand out more.
5. I changed the colour of my ‘Contents’ and added the selling line so then it matches the image on the right hand corner of the magazine and aligned it more to the left I also moved the ‘Flava’ title down and made it bigger so then it stands out more, I changed the positioning of the image and moved it to the right a bit so then you are able to see the whole of Abigail.
6. I changed the heading and moved it on the left third as this looked more professional. As well as this, I removed the selling line as this is not needed. I also moved the ‘Contents’ to the left and made sure that I aligned this to the text of ‘Flava’ and the text. I moved all the editorial pillars and aligned them from the ‘O’ from the ‘Contents’ to make sure that it looks more professional and eye catching. I also aligned this to the cover lines too. I moved all the page numbers, and aligned them by using the ‘Contents.’ I have done this, as it looks more appealing to the readers. I also aligned the subscription offer, by using the page numbers and changed the size. I put the first three lines in bold, so then it stands out more for the readers. I moved the front cover magazine to the right . I also changed the editorial letter, as I put the ‘Dear Flava Fans’ in bold to make it stand out more and make it more appealing to the reader. I also changed the size of the editorial letter and aligned it to the top image. I also put the name ‘Flava’ in bold, so then this stands out more. I also added the editors name, in the font of a handwriting, so then it looks more professional and is also a main convention which music magazines use.
