An analysis of the strategies ans practices of Brazilian state-owned banks and regional funds to manage climate change challenges. The aim of this study is to make a gap analysis of policies and practices undertaken by Brazilian state-owned financial institutions and regional funds to reduce the climate impact of their operations and to promote the transition to a low carbon economy. The study analyzes initiatives and procedures that have already been implemented, as well as programs that are currently in development. Results presented here aspire to subsidize the formulation of public policies to combat the effects of climate change aligned with the objectives of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Kyoto Protocol, the Bali Action Plan and the Copenhagen Agreement. Moreover, it is expected that the analysis suggested here may supply relevant information to the entire national financial sector. GVces - Center for Sustainability Studies www.gvces.com.br

Agribusiness in Brazil - November 2011 FGV Projetos, together with FGV's Agribusiness Center at the São Paulo School of Economics (GV Agro/EESP), has been at the forefront of major advances in Brazilian and international agribusiness. On a global level, FGV has worked together with the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and major international organizations to develop and implement economic and financial feasibility projects related to agroenergy in several Tropical Belt countries. A number of technical cooperation agreements have been signed to facilitate work in this field, including partnerships between: (1) Brazil and the United States for the promotion and development of biomass energy in Central America and the Caribbean; (2) the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and African countries to develop biomass projects; and (3) the European Union and Brazil for a feasibility study of biofuel and foodstuff production in Mozambique. As a result of these initiatives, 13 countries have already been the subject of feasibility studies for the development of more than 50 biomass projects related to ethanol, biodiesel, electricity, steam, and foodstuffs. In this issue, FGV Projects presents an overview of the current agribusiness scenario and its contribution to the world. We trust that this publication will fulfill its goal of contributing to the dissemination of knowledge and guiding policies and strategies that lead to the enhancement of initiatives involving the sector. Research in the field of Global Environmental Governance (GEG) pays considerable attention to the emergence of New Governance Mechanisms (NGM). This doesn't only mean the involvement of a growing number of non-state actors but also of new state actors, corresponding to new ways of participation. In this regard, NGM poses profound challenges to governments and institutions in the Developed and Developing world alike. This article seeks to advance the debates on GEG by analysing fairness and equity implications in participatory processes that led to the development of innovative governance mechanisms in Brazil, which may have influenced the elaboration of its intended Nationally Determined Contribution (iNDC). Given the fact that the social dimension is at the heart of Brazil’s climate adaptation and mitigation strategies and bearing in mind the need to institutionalize the protection of vulnerable from the negative effects of climate change and strength their resilience, a relevant aspect is evident. Brazil, as a transitional economy, could provide insights into environmental governance schemes as well as influence the policy-making process in others developing nations. We believe that existing local, regional and global governance mechanisms in Brazil, explore key-factors associated with public perception, awareness, ethics, justice, innovation and risk management, which are ultimately important to address normative implications related to the climate negotiations and international relations as Brazil’s iNDC commits to strength the country’s adaptation capacity and proactively assess climate related risks. But how fairness and equity are really addressed in the country?

Sara Mae O’Brien Scott and Tatiana Baquero Cakici, Senior Consultants at Enterprise Knowledge (EK), presented “AI Fast Track to Search-Focused AI Solutions” at the Information Architecture Conference (IAC24) that took place on April 11, 2024 in Seattle, WA. In their presentation, O’Brien-Scott and Cakici focused on what Enterprise AI is, why it is important, and what it takes to empower organizations to get started on a search-based AI journey and stay on track. The presentation explored the complexities of enterprise search challenges and how IA principles can be leveraged to provide AI solutions through the use of a semantic layer. O’Brien-Scott and Cakici showcased a case study where a taxonomy, an ontology, and a knowledge graph were used to structure content at a healthcare workforce solutions organization, providing personalized content recommendations and increasing content findability. In this session, participants gained insights about the following: Most common types of AI categories and use cases; Recommended steps to design and implement taxonomies and ontologies, ensuring they evolve effectively and support the organization’s search objectives; Taxonomy and ontology design considerations and best practices; Real-world AI applications that illustrated the value of taxonomies, ontologies, and knowledge graphs; and Tools, roles, and skills to design and implement AI-powered search solutions.

With more memory available, system performance of three Dell devices increased, which can translate to a better user experience Conclusion When your system has plenty of RAM to meet your needs, you can efficiently access the applications and data you need to finish projects and to-do lists without sacrificing time and focus. Our test results show that with more memory available, three Dell PCs delivered better performance and took less time to complete the Procyon Office Productivity benchmark. These advantages translate to users being able to complete workflows more quickly and multitask more easily. Whether you need the mobility of the Latitude 5440, the creative capabilities of the Precision 3470, or the high performance of the OptiPlex Tower Plus 7010, configuring your system with more RAM can help keep processes running smoothly, enabling you to do more without compromising performance.
