In 1979… The world faced a great number of challenges

fasdfsadfasdfsd Yoko from Japan French Canadians and Haitians   In 1980 Legacy welcomed its first international staff member… The first Japanese Toriee gate was also built that year In 1981 the first international participants arrived for a bi-lingual French/English program
In the ‘80s, a myriad of global issues compelled Legacy to expand its reach
[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],Connections were made Over the next decade, Legacy continued to work with youth and adults from Israel and Palestine Hard work ensured programs were enjoyable as well as educational Cultures were shared

[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],In the ’90s Legacy expanded its work to encompass more countries and reach a larger demographic through a wider range of initiatives: Stop gap Stop gap 2 ,[object Object]
[object Object],[object Object],Samir Kafity Ahmed Kuftaro David Shipler Thomas Pickering ,[object Object],[object Object],Featured lecturers included: Two new Initiatives were the Global Viewpoints Forum and the Leadership Development Initiative  Stop gap
Promotes public diplomacy through the  exchange of cultural ideas and values among participants and communities. Legacy International has conducted the program since 1994 in 11 countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Ukraine.  Community Connections One of Legacy’s longest running adult training programs Over 400 participants have been hosted by more than 300 companies, organizations and families.   Stop gap Stop gap 2
In the last decade the world has changed…yet many pressing issues remained the same Such as war, genocide, poverty, and  environmental degradation
Legacy remains committed to one guiding principle: helping people help themselves to make their communities and our world healthy, safe, more peaceful, and equitable.
Mission ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],Strengthening the civil society of communities in transition.   Helping local citizens create increasingly cooperative and productive lives.  In regions of the world, characterized by rapid transition, conflict, or instability. Stop gap
Legacy seeks out and supports individuals with a commitment to public service and a vision for their community. Legacy offers practical ways to develop skills in leadership, cross-cultural communication, and creative and critical thinking. Some of our recent programs include… dialogue and leadership training for youth and teachers from Bosnia and Herzegovina the Indonesian Youth Leadership programs programs for Iraqi youth and dialogue between religious and social leaders in the US & Indonesia Leadership Development As a result of our programs, citizens are more invested in their communities, and equity, respect, and a culture of participation become the standard.
Helping people to help themselves Many of our leadership development programs include mini-grant projects for community improvement One example; is this project in which three alumni of our Bosnia and Herzegovina program used their mini-grant to organize fellow classmates to go to an orphanage in Mostar four days a week to do recreational and social activities with the orphans
Capacity building and civic education ,[object Object],In addition to leadership development, Legacy provides capacity building for NGO’s, teachers, schools, government representatives, and others Legacy works directly with community members and organizations, helping them to conceive agendas for change, generate action plans for sustainable solutions, build coalitions, and gain the skills and tools needed to carry out their plans. As we move forward, we will apply our 30 years of expertise and knowledge to meet the diverse challenges of the world we live in. Now, as over the last 30 years, Legacy remains dedicated to a vision of a better world by helping local citizens address the most pressing issues in their communities.

Legacy offers practical ways to develop skills in leadership, cross-cultural communication, and creative and critical thinking. Some of our recent programs include… dialogue and leadership training for youth and teachers from Bosnia and Herzegovina the Indonesian Youth Leadership programs programs for Iraqi youth and dialogue between religious and social leaders in the US & Indonesia Leadership Development As a result of our programs, citizens are more invested in their communities, and equity, respect, and a culture of participation become the standard.

Helping people to help themselves Many of our leadership development programs include mini-grant projects for community improvement One example; is this project in which three alumni of our Bosnia and Herzegovina program used their mini-grant to organize fellow classmates to go to an orphanage in Mostar four days a week to do recreational and social activities with the orphans
