8. What customers are saying……
Corasworks Workplace Suite - great toolset
I have used CorasWorks components at a few clients including
one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world.
There is really no other product out there that allows you to
increase the value of collaboration on top of SharePoint like
CorasWorks. One of their best components that I really like is
their ability to create new roll up web parts on the fly without
writing a single line of code. You can roll up data from multiple
lists across multiple sites (not just out of the box SharePoint Source:
lists and libraries, but customized lists too) and present it on a http://www.sharepointreviews.com/
single page with different grouping and sorting options. You
can also very easily color code your data. They have a lot of
useful site templates too. One of my favorites is the help desk
template that allows me to implement a support site in a
matter of minutes. Using the WorkplaceSuite as a replacement for MOSS
I love this product. I wouldn't know what to do if I moved to a
new environment that didn't include CorasWorks.

Consider the initial investment of SharePoint – WSS. Very minimal with tremendous out of the box functionality. The next layer of investment, MOSS begins to escalate your costs, risk and enterprise commitment. With Standard CAL and Enterprise CAL, the promise of delivering content rich, data driven applications, portals, and workflow can be manifested. But what are the risks?First, custom development – Out of the Box, MOSS will not deliver interconnect applications from multiple site structures or external data. You’ll need to custom develop these features.Displays – SharePoint will not allow the aggregation of multiple list, multiple site collections, and multiple data sources into one view. Again, custom development.Considering the best practices currently used for application development, you run the risk of developing code, incorrect code delivery, poor functionality and ultimately end user rejection. Finally, costs. For many organizations, the investment in MOSS is cost prohibitive. Both Standard and Enterprise licensing is on a per seat basis. You need to mange disparate licenses based on user profile, and in many cases, it is an all or nothing licensing requirement. The value of CorasWorksCorasWorks as an overlay to just the Native WSS Platform will allow you to delver interconnected, content rich, composite applications. Using a modular, data driven architecture that can be repurposed WITHOUT CUSTOM DEVELOPMENT, enterprise organizations will reduce significant risk in SharePoint deployments. The Workplace Suite provides the Collaboration, Portal, Search and Content Management promised with Standard Cal. The Data Integration Toolset provides the Business Intelligence elements needed to effectively manage business objectives.Configuration flexibility allows for Business Managers to create their own applications and displays or the IT department can “lockdown” elements. In either case, modularity allows for rapid deployment cycles, reducing time market, and allows quick recycles of user request to enhance displays and applications to their own specific interest, improving user adoption.Licensing is based on web front end SharePoint servers, not on population. No need to manage each user’s unique requirements. Centralized Management and Security Trimming enables users access to the data an views they need. What about Business Process?Using the Data Integration Toolset and the Workplace Suite, our customers have been able to seriously review the needs for InfoPath, Workflow Designer and the Document Information Panel. Using CorasWorks, customers have created the forms & workflow to capture metadata need to define, manage and improve business processes. Granted, this is not the complete measure of these additional capabilities but again, an opportunity for an organization to consider alternatives to full MOSS investment.
