For excellence and access, both public and private institutions are motivated to provide new online formats. These mandate new relationships, structures and processes for all institutions. Establishing an effective infrastructure can be daunting for smaller schools and programs. This session will explore ways to expand instructional technologies in partnership with other institutions.
The session will describe collaboration for Learning Management System (LMS) sharing and course sharing that is cost effective and scalable. It extends the academic capacity of each participating school and faculty. UMassOnline created a model of LMS sharing for colleges and universities across Massachusetts. Through this system, Massachusetts’ state institutions produced many online courses. In its latest model to extend a vision for LMS sharing, UMassOnline is a resource for LMS sharing with the Colleges of the Fenway of Boston, Massachusetts.
The Colleges of the Fenway are 6 institutions (5 private & 1 public), bordering the Longwood Medical and Academic Area of Boston, Massachusetts. These six institutions are independent yet work in consortium. The Colleges of the Fenway selected UMassOnline for LMS sharing. One of these six schools, Emmanuel College, a Catholic liberal arts college, will explain its partnership decisions for online courses with cross registration using LMS sharing with UMassOnline. Impact can be demonstrated by Emmanuel College’s liberal arts online courses in summer terms.
