This document outlines the course objectives and outline for a Filipino Culture and Society class. The course aims to: 1) discover Filipino culture, traditions, beliefs and values relevant to management; 2) determine advantages and disadvantages of managing with Filipino values; 3) explore Filipino nationhood, democracy and development. Students will write an action research paper addressing the influence of Filipino culture in the workplace and society, and whether Filipino culture can address 21st century challenges. The course outline assigns topics like Filipino traditions, values and identity to different dates for discussion. Students will present their action research papers at the end of the course.

A. Course Objectives:
1. Discover Filipino culture, traditions, beliefs and values that are relevant
to managerial undertakings.
2. Determine the advantages and disadvantages of managing by Filipino
Values System.
3. Explore the essence of Filipino nationhood, democracy and development.
4. Write an Action Research that depictstherelevance of Filipino culture,
traditions , beliefs and values prevailing in the present workplace. More
specifically , the paper must address the following concerns:
a. What are the Filipino culture, values , beliefs and traditions
commonly practiced in the present workplace? How does it affect
the goals and aspirations of the organization?
b. What is the magnitude of influence of Filipino Values System in
managing the organization?
c. How would you view the impact of Filipino Culture in our own
society and that of global community?
d. Do you think that our Filipino Culture and Society are able enough
to address the challenges of the 21st century in the global context?
