programme
to clarify the roles and responsibilities within the 2010
LOC Volunteer Programme
4. DEFINITION
VOLUNTEER
Individuals that will offer their time and services for
free to the 2010 Organising Committee South Africa
and Official Host Cities by making themselves
available in areas where the 2010 LOC and HC
requires their support.
5. OBJECTIVES
Recruit and make sufficient volunteers available for the
2010 FIFA World Cup and related events.
Inculcate a culture of efficiency and customer service with
volunteers
Provide an opportunity for the broader South African nation
to participate directly in the presentation of the FWC and its
associated events though the Volunteer Programme.
To leave a lasting legacy via skills transfer and experience

8. RECRUITMENT
Recruitment will be conducted online. The Application form will
be available from www.FIFA.com
On line Registration process will be opened for a period of 5
months.
Each HC will provide registration points for interested volunteers
who do not have access to computers and internet.
Screening and security of all applicants will be conducted.
Interviews and Training will be Compulsory
All successful volunteers will sign a contract with the LOC or HC

11. PLACEMENT AND PROVISION
Retention and recognition
LOC and HC will implement a volunteer retention and
recognition programme aimed at:
1.sustaining positive time volunteers spend in the programme.
2.reducing drop out rate
3.development of team spirit
4.loyalty to the programme.
12. PLACEMENT AND PROVISION
PROVISION FOR VOLUNTEERS
An official Event volunteer uniform
Event specific training, job training, venue familiarization,
Diplomatic and general protocol, FIFA protocol, Customer
Service and knowledge about the country and specific
cities.
A certificate of acknowledgement of participation from LOC
and HC
Refreshments and meals while on duty
13. AREAS THAT WILL NOT BE PROVIDED FOR
Accommodation will not be provided.
Fuel allowance will not be provided.
Travel from respective South African cities, provinces,
countries outside the South African borders and other
continents will not be provided by the LOC or Host Cites,
as the volunteers who choose to participate from outside
the official host cities will have to travel on their own
accord.
14. STIPEND
A stipend will be paid to all the volunteers who will be
participating in official events and tournaments of the 2010 LOC
and Host Cities.
All other cities and provinces will implement the same stipend
policy.
Stipend will be calculated on a daily and not an hourly basis.
Stipend will not be paid for interviews, training and Induction.
The stipend will only be paid at the end of each of the respective
events and it will be paid electronically.
Stipend will be paid in South African currency which is in R/ rands
irrespective of where volunteers will be coming from.
All volunteers currently employed who are at a taxable bracket will
have their stipend taxed as per SARS requirements .
15. CONCLUSION
There is one volunteer process for both LOC and Host
City
All 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup volunteers and
associated events will be recruited from South Africa
2010 FIFA World Cup will be recruited World wide. 70% -
80% will be from South Africa as the host nation
Volunteers to be at least 18 years to qualify for the
Confederations Cup and 18 by March 2010 for the World
Cup.
