  • 1. Lesson Plan Subject : English Class : Year 5 Kristal Enrollment : 41 Level : Average Date/Day : 26.2.2014 / Wednesday Time : 10.20-11.20 am Theme : World of Knowledge Topic : Save our environment Focused Skill : Reading Integrated Skills : Writing Learning Outcomes Specifications 3.3 Read and understand phrases, sentences, paragraphs and whole text. 3.3.3 Read and understand simple paragraphs. 4.3 Complete texts with missing word, phrase or sentence. 4.3.3 Complete simple instructions, text, rhymes, notices, recipes, stories with missing word. (little guidance) Learning Objectives: By the end of this lesson, pupils should be able to: i. Read the text on Save Our Environment and answer at least 7 out of 10 comprehension questions correctly. ii. Complete the charts on the garbage disposal in groups. Educational Emphases: i. Multiple Intelligences: Visual-spatial, verbal-linguistic, intrapersonal ii. Thinking Skills: Creativity, making connection iii. Moral Values: Cleanliness is our responsibility. Language Content: • Vocabulary : open dump, landfills, incinerator, chimney, furnace, gigantic Teaching aids: pictures, cards, worksheets, word cards, display sheets, Previous knowledge: Pupils have been exposed to recycling from the campaign awareness from the shopping mall, the school and television. Anticipated problem : Pupils might not be able to comprehend the text read. Suggested solution : Teacher explains the text briefly before letting the pupils to complete the worksheet.

Teacher paste the manila card containing definition of the vocabularies on the board. 5. Teacher asks pupils to match the words to its definition. 6. Teacher shows pictures of the words for better understanding. i. To equip pupils with the words that they will read in the reading text. ii. To brainstorm pupils with the meaning of the vocabulary learnt. iii. To ensure that pupils are on the right track of learning. iv. To enrich pupils’ vocabulary. v. Teacher asks pupils to complete the worksheet by pasting the sentence strips correctly. 4. Teacher explains to pupils that the answer can be found in the text earlier. 5. Teacher gives time for pupils to complete the sentence strips. 6. Teacher put the display sheet on the board as guidance for the answer. 7. Teacher asks pupils to paste the sentence strips prepared by the teacher on the board. 8. Teacher discusses the answer with the pupils. i. To enhance pupils’understand ing by providing more exercises on the same topic ii. To provide correct answer to pupils. iii. To encourage pupils parti -display sheets -sentence strips -worksheet

Teacher recaps what have been learnt throughout the lesson. - Topic: save our environment - Moral value: - Cleanliness of our environment is our responsibility - Love and appreciate nature 2. Teacher explains to pupils the importance of maintaining the cleanliness of the nature for a better environment and pollution free. i. To consolidate what they have learned. ii.
