Letter to parent's regarding S4/5/6 Parent's Evening 10 November 2011

Dear Parents/Carers
PARENTS/CARERS OF S4/S5/S6 PUPILS : MEETING WITH TEACHING STAFF
Thursday 10th November 2011: 5.00 - 7.30PM
You are warmly invited to attend next week’s Parent’s Evening when both Teaching and Guidance staff
will be available to speak to you individually about you son/daughter’s progress to date in their various
courses and the appropriate “next steps” in the learning process upon which these courses are based.
The evening will allow you to discuss with teachers how best you can support your son/daughter in their
preparations for these examinations as well as discussing their course work to date.
This year we decided to trail a new format of Parent’s Evening where, instead of parents scheduling
appointments and meeting teachers in the hall, parents will be given the opportunity to visit teachers in
their departments and see some of the work pupils have been doing in school. On arrival,
parents/carers will be given a map of the school to enable them to locate the various departments they
wish to visit. If you have any concerns regarding accessing departments which are not on ground level,
please let us know so that appropriate arrangements can be put in place. Refreshments will be provided
in the main corridor of the school and feedback on the new Parent’s Evening format can be left at the
main door prior to leaving the building.
Northfield Academy wants to develop a strong partnership between school and parents as this enables
us to work together more effectively in order to provide appropriate support, challenge and
encouragement for your son/daughter as they face important examinations and have to make significant
decisions about their future at this stage in their school career. For this reason we hope that you will be
able to meet with teaching staff on Thursday 10th November and ask that you return the tear-off slip at
the foot of this letter to indicate whether or not you are able to attend.
