3. June 2014: “Al-Hayat” newspaper, Journalism techniques / Digital Unit media work
(training)
Performed journalistic tasks as a non-earning employee (journalism trainee), sticking
to critical working day-and-night shifts (7 hours/shift) within the digital unit in “Al-
Hayat” newspaper.
Worked (training) under the supervision of, and earned Mr. Suhaib Ayyoub (Executive
Editor) and Mr. Zaki Mahfoud (Digital Unit Supervisor).
Neatly finished numerous news editing texts published hourly under the supervision of
Mr. Suhaib Ayyoub. I was successfully able to meet the demanding chores of across-
the-hour spotting and editing news; mostly translating English news texts into Arabic,
following that with carefully editing these “news agencies texts” in accordance with the
editorial norms and orientations of “Al-Hayat”.
Coped well with editing political, economics, sports, and social and entertainment
news alike (all across the hour—7 hours shift).
Chief Editor, Mr. Hassan Haydar, gave me oral credit for sound editing and neat
editorial language skills.
Earned praise from Executive Editor, Mr. Suhaib Ayyoub, for exhibiting leading skills in
translation and editing (in all kinds of news).
Was the first trainee (for the mentioned round) to complete an investigative analytic
report on “geo-jihadism” in the shadow of ideological practice and psychology studies.
Earned praise from Digital Unit Supervisor, Mr. Zaki Mahfoud, for being ahead of all
other trainees for that round. Mr. Mahfoud further introduced me to more in depth
working tools that journalist employees utilize and work on within the Digital Unit.
