As many of our readers will know, the Hadley Green garage
has had a change of ownership. The business was opened
by Harry Green who having somehow survived active
service in the First World War, started repairing motor cycles
behind what was the Windmill pub (later the Loch Fyne
restaurant and now a private house). His father was the
licensee at the Windmill. The business prospered and Harry
began selling Humbers and Sunbeams there until World
War Two intervened. At this point the Government took over
the garage for the manufacture of Spitfire parts. Douglas
Green was born in the flat over the garage and eventually
took over the business. He moved first to Hadley
Highstone and then with a showroom on the High Street
