Nike has become the leader in athletic equipment. Whether it is in athletic footwear, equipment or clothing, Nike has a finger in the field, and doing well in it. Being a worldwide company, Nike is primarily focused on “athletes”, but the problem comes in that many people believe that they aren’t athletes. This makes sense, many believe the athletes play in the NFL, MLB, college sports, ect and the normal person thinks they are just a Monday morning quarterback. However as a company Nike’s motto is “If you have a body, then you are an athlete.” With a motto like this, it is easy to see how they can target the world with the collection.
While Nike is on top of the world in the athletic equipment industry, one must continue to innovate to stay on top. One of their newest innovations is moving into the “action” sports of the world with the launch of Nike 6.0. With this new branch, Nike is now creating products for skiers, boarders, motocross, surfers, and BMX athletes.
In order to get Nike’s motto out to the world, because many people don’t believe in it, they need to reach out to the youth of the world. While they do target the youth now, Nike needs to have the company, athletes and fans to show that they are here to make world, communities and of course sports better. To do this Nike will have their endorsed athletes create blogs and twitter accounts if they don’t have one already and post what they are doing to make the world better, how to become a better athlete from first have experience and where fans can meet these athletes for meet and greets. In these blogs, Nike will create the background with the athlete profiled but the Nike Swoosh will be on the athletes gear so show what the athlete is wearing. By having their athletes create and update their sites on a regular basis, it will create a following with fans that will help remind them why Nike is the best product for athletic gear.
To top off the athlete profiles online, Nike as a company will create community service events where they will build an athletic field, whether it be a soccer field, football field, baseball diamond, in multiple areas around the country. While Nike’s employees will assist with the completion of making these fields, with the support of some of the local athletes, volunteers will be able to work side by side with their favorite athletes.
