The American Revolution Part 2 Hannah houze
Chapter Six On January 10, 1776, Thomas Paine published his pamphlet Common Sense to talk about solving the problems with the British through republicanism and independence Later on in 1776, the colonies began creating their own constitutions so as to create sovereign states The Articles of Confederation make up the first governing document of the U.S. When the last people to sign the constitution, Maryland, signed, the Continental Congress dissolved and the United States in Congress Assembled to it’s place
Chapter Seven In the Battle of Brooklyn, the British defeated Washington’s army in a comeback after Washington had kicked them out Negotiations were attempted, but the British wanted a retraction of the Declaration of Independence, which was of course refused The British took control of New York, and almost captured Washington New Jersey was also gained, but Washington took it back in a surprise attack in December 1776 New York was surrendered after British troops got stuck upstate In 1778, the French formerly joined the Americans, becoming the first country to recognize the Declaration of Independence
Paragraph on Revolution Like I said before, I enjoy the American Revolution. Some major points I learned, were that the British tried to take control even after the Americans won and wrote the Declaration of Independence. I don’t think I ever realized that. I find it entertaining the British lost New York because of a mis-coordination. I also chuckled at the fact the Cornwallis was so embarrassed by his defeat that he had to send his second in command to surrender for him
