5. No homework! It’s a skill used immediately in other classes and in your personal life. Work is mostly independent with minimal teacher talk. It’s not rocket science! The class only lasts for a semester! What’s so great about typing?
17. Second QuarterDocuments and More Blogging, email, and an electronic calendar will be used to get you ready for the workplace. Memos, reports, letters and tables in Microsoft Word.

21. Grading: Tests, daily practice (participation),and assignments will be graded on a point system. The grades will be available to view online at https://aps.blackboard.com. A final exam, worth 20%, will be given at the end of the semester.
22. Curriculum: First Quarter we will focus on learning to type by touch. Youwill use self-paced software to learn to type on a computer keyboard. Second Quarter we focus on word processing of standard business forms, letters and reports. Youwill also gain experience with proofreading, e-mail, uploading and downloading files. It will be necessary for each of youto use a gaggle.net account to access the email. Youruse will be closely monitored in the classroom and may be restricted when used inappropriately.
23. Practice: Practice is an essential part of learning a skill. Every effort should be made to attend class and participate in daily practice. Youare expected to try yourbest everyday. Youwill receive a grade each day based on yourparticipation during the first quarter. When we begin typing documents during the second quarter, you will be graded based on the completion and quality of the assignments.
24. Late work: It is your responsibility to make up assignments or tests that are missed. Youhave one day for each day absent to make up assignments. If you need time out of class to make up work, then let me know and I can keep the lab open for you afterschool.
25. Tests: Youwill be asked to type a document without looking at your hands. Speed will be tested during the second quarter, along with quizzes covering the word processing topics.
26. Attendance and Tardy Policy: Poor attendance is the number one reason for failure. You are expected to be on time and in class everyday. You will be considered tardy when youare not inyour assigned seat when the bell rings. Time for learning is valuable and we will begin promptly.
27. Procedures: When you come to class, store your backpack and get your agenda. Put your agenda on the table next to you, open to the jet card. Log on to your assigned computer. Sit up straight with good posture. Fingers should be curled and wrists slightly lifted. Continue the lessons in order. At the end of each class, do not shut down the computer, but log off so that the next student will be able to log on.
