6. TROPOSPHERE
• The word ‘troposphere’ is derived from
the Greak word ‘tropos’
• From the surface of the earth to about 10
km above the earth surface.
• Temperature gets cooler at a constant
rate as attitude increase.

7. TROPOPAUSE
• The boundary all the top of the
troposphere
• The low temperature (-55c) keeps
the water vapour and clouds in
the troposphere

8. STRATOSPHERE
•10km to about 50km above the
earth surface
•Temperature cots warmer with
increasing attitude
•No water vapour in the
stratosphere result in few clouds
and no storms

9. OZONE LAYER
In the upper part
stratosphere and absorbs
the sun’s ultra violet
radiation.

10. STRATOPAUSE
The boundary between
the top of the stratosphere
and the bottom of the
mesosphere.

11. MESOSPHERE
• Extend from 50km to 80km above
the earth’s surface
•Temperature decrease with
increasing attitude
• As the top of the mesosphere is
the coldest part of the earth’s
atmosphere where temperature
drop below 80 degree c

12. MESOPAUSE
• The boundary between the top of
the mesosphere and the bottom of
the thermosphere

13. THERMOSPHERE
• Extend from 80km to 480km above the
earth surface.
• Temperatures increase with an increase
in attitude and become very hot.
• Average temperature is 980 degree c.

14. IONOSPHERE
•Lower portion of the
thermosphere where
auroras occur

15. CONCLUSION
Mainly there are 4 layers in
the atmosphere.
Troposphere, Stratosphere,
Mesosphere, Thermosphere.
