How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts ?
1. How effective is the
combination of your main
product and ancillary texts ?
2. Recurring Logo
One of the key elements that makes our two texts
effective as a whole is the use of the recurring logos
because it gives the two text a feel of continuity. For
example the S/J logo that is seen within the ancillary
text good as becomes symbolic to the particular artist.
This shows good as it shows good continuity of both
texts. This is done with other artist within our particular
genre, such as Ed Sheeran as on his album art work he
includes a paw print and this has become symbolic of
him and the paw has become recognisable as it being Ed
Sheeran. The Audience acknowledge that specific logo
with that particular artist as it iconographical.
3. Consistent font
Another element that makes our two text very effective is the
use of the same font which is san serif style, this is because it
also shows some continuity. This is seen in the music video
when the montage of the couples appear and we have the San
Serif texts saying #WeFoundLove, it is also included in the
digipak when we have various screenshots of couples in a
natural and loving state and the title underneath with
#WeFoundLove . This is good as it shows a strong sense of
continuity within both text and by keeping to this font makes
the both text look a lot more professional. This is appealing
to the audience as it is easy to read and it matches the genre
of the specific artist we have created.
4. #WeFoundLove
Another feature which makes the combination of the main
product and the ancillary text effect is by Including the use of
hash tagging in our work this is because it includes a theme of
social networking, Within both text we included a social element
with the use of our #WeFoundLove. By doing this it creates a new
source of communication between the fan bases, it also adds a
lot of marketing potential as people will be recreating and san
serif our work which will help us gain a lot of attention globally,
By creating a #WeFoundLove it will inspire the audience to
reproduce similar shots of their relationships and post them on
social networking sites, this includes the theory of
digimordensim by Alan Kirby as we rely on the audience to
participate in the hash tag. Without the audience decimating the
work the whole hash tag theme will stall. This appeals to the
audience as they feel like they are involved with a trend and
have a connection with the artist and by hash tagging their
relationship clips.
5. Locations
Another theme that makes both text effect is the use
of the locations, this is because they are seen within
both texts and used as a feature as a location to finding
love and to show continuity. E- For example throughout
both texts we see the same recurring iconic locations
such as Oxford Circus, Primrose Hill, Southbank and
Tower Bridge. This links to #WeFoundLove as the
couples used in the montage have found love in this
location. The audience like this as they recognise these
famous locations. It also adds the Nostalgic effect for
other couples as they might think about where they
met.
6. Props and Costumes
The last feature that makes both texts effective is the
use props and costumes because in both texts they are
recurring. For example the guitar and the smart casual
clothing within the music video is also include in the
digipak. This is good because Other artist such as Sam
Smith which is in the same genre wears smart casual
clothing, this Is good as it becomes iconographical of
the genre that we are portraying. This is good as the
audience recognise the iconographical items from one
text such as the music video with other text such as the
digipak.
