This document discusses how libraries can engage with patrons through social media. It argues that in 1998 libraries focused on information but now in 2008 they should focus on community and collaboration by embracing social tools like Flickr, YouTube, and social networking sites. The document provides examples of libraries using these tools to engage patrons, encourage participation and discussion, embed in the local community, enable collaboration on projects, explore new communities, and empower patrons to celebrate the library.
