Reg Kit 5 How Do We Create Community
1. How do we create community?
We create community with Pulse Nights
Pulse Nights highlights specific classes in performance and displays of their work three times a year. It is student led and
parent facilitated.
We come together because:
It brings HEART families together for fellowship and fun.
It brings new families for a sneak-preview of the different classes.
HEART families can invite their extended families to show that homeschooling does work!
We create community with Pulse clubs
The kids will be trained in leadership and servant hood skills with discipleship as a focus. Parents and students, if you
have expertise in any of these areas and would like to be part of an exciting time, let us know by emailing us back with
your particular interest. This extra-curricular activity does not require a fee.
Hospitality people usually love serving. This group will help prepare the auditorium for the evening, coordinate and
prepare the lobby & patio for snacks, set up tables in patio and lobby. This group will also clean-up after the event,
put away tables, pick up trash in the auditorium, lobby and patio; check the bathrooms, clean up and return everything
to its appropriate position. They will be called the Hospitality Crew.
Tech & Sound people usually enjoy the technical aspects and technology of running a program. These students will
come 45 minutes early to set up any technical items such as microphones, sound board, stage, etc. They will also
create PowerPoint slides with words for the worship songs and perhaps other PowerPoint presentations to promote
other events at HEART. It is recommended you become of the Tech CEO Challenge class with Mr. Allen
Sharing from the Word people have the gift of encouragement and teaching. These students should be 16-18 years of
age. It is recommended they register for the M&M’s Class or BALM. They belong in the Message Bureau. See Mrs.
Efting for more info and join her Speech and Debate Class for more training!
Worship Singing / Band people enjoy helping others to worship through music & uplifting words. They should be
willing to practice once a week after HEART classes or another time convenient for everyone. Parents and students
who are interested should email Crissi Allen right away. We will set up the audition date when we hear from you.
The band is called, “HEARTbeat.”
Skit Team people have a flair for drama and performance. These students will create, choose and perform a skit,
probably pertaining to the topic or theme of the evening. They will need to have the skit written 4 weeks before the

where they will receive training in creating, writing and rehearsing productions.
Prayer Team people love to pray! These students will meet at a convenient time for everyone
Newsletter Team people like to write articles and inform others of events. These students will write and put together
a full newsletter once a semester. They will also advertise and write about events at HEART. It is recommended they
join the Tech CEO Challenge class with Jere Allen where they will be trained to put all this data into the computer to
create professional looking publications. An editor will be chosen to pull all this together.
We create community by performing drama presentations and musical productions
Everyone loves a great drama! There’s something about this media that leaves everyone so interested. We seek to create
community through these presentations. Drama productions will be presented during the Pulse nights at HEART
Academy three times a year. This class will not require a lot of time and will be mostly be rehearsing during classes. If
you are interested, please see your course catalog.
For those interested in the musical form of production, this is the venue for you! Musicals create community in many
ways. One way is through the interpersonal relationships among the casts and adults – we get to see the good, the bad and
the ugly – yes, stress does that to everyone! Students will be rehearsing from December 2010 to April 2011. Please see
your course catalog for more information.
