The reason I chose
Nelson Mandela as
my project because
recently he died and
I heard that he was
a great soul, so that
got
me
curious
about him and I
wanted
to
learn
more about him.

Nelson Mandela was from
South Africa who stopped
apartheid system.
He was the first black
president of South Africa.
He went to jail so many
times.
He died recently on
December 5th 2013.

Nelson Mandela was
born on July 18, 1918 in
a village called Mvezo,
South Africa.
When he was young, he
and his father moved to
a place called Qunu.

Nelson Mandela attended
college
at
Fort
Hare
College, but while he was
there he was there, he
boycotted and protested
against college rules that
were unjust and unfair.
Then he was suspended
from the college.
While he was put in jail he
started to study law.
Soon after, he attended
Witwatersrand University in
Johannesburg

Protesting played a big
part
in
Nelson
Mandela’s
fight
for
Apartheid. One of the
biggest groups that
fought for the for black
South African rights
was the ANC or the
African
National
Congress.
When ANC was banned
Mandela started small
protesting groups.
8. Nelson
Mandela was the
first black president in
the history of South
Africa. His term was
from May 10, 1994 till
June 1999. He won the
democratic election on
May 10, 1994 with 62%
votes.
Mandela is also famous
for winning the Nobel
prize in 1993.
He
shared half of the prize
with de Clerk for ending
the Apartheid.
