I have come up with the idea to create a BMX website, this website will allow people nationally and internationally to visit and get information about Sunderland’s BMX community. My main audience will be focused more on people in and around the North East, there are a number of sections I am considering for my site these are: About, Links, News, Places to ride and Shops. In my research I am going to look into similar style websites, look into and gather up more information on my audience and general information for a BMX website.
As you can see from the maps both websites have most viewers from where their site is located but TCU has been able to grab a much wider audience and spread into more countries. Rideukbmx is great example of how my site may work out. I also have another example of one of my previous BMX blogs to show viewing statistics as these figures will realistically mirror my new websites statistics.
With all this research carried out it is important that I have a plan of how im going to carry the project out. There are a number of aspects I need to consider.
To be organised for the project I need to stick to a schedule and also keep track of how the project runs. I’m going to create a timeline for the 10 weeks I have so that I can be keeping busy but also ready to finish the product correctly and on time. The minutes will be useful for me to look back at if I think im may have missed anything or if I came up with a new idea to add to my project. The schedule will include, more research for my website, gathering content for my site, creating designs of my website, making the website and finishing up the project.
As im creating bmx website there will not be anything that I could consider and being a problem, I have although considered creating a a new bmx video for the site to either advertise the site or just to be content for it. So If I am to film a bmx video I will have to consider where im filming and the health and safety of the rider involved, things such as helmets and pads will be needed and also for the camera man the location will need to be assessed for safety.
With my idea in mind I have not been able to consider many possible constraints that may affect the construction of my website. In my own opinion I could be the one constraint, if I do not stick to my schedule then I could end up running out of time and not finishing the project. This is a highly unlikely situation. Time is the more than likely a possibility as I have just 10 weeks to create this website.
This is my idea if i were to ever cross a problem that may stop me from creating my bmx website. As I do have a slight interest in the latest fashion and what’s latest cool thing to wear I decided to create a blog that would be updated with the latest trends in the uk. This may be brands or just any type of shop in the area. It would be a very social website for all teens to access and look through but also socialise with friends through the site.
To create my BMX website there are a number of resources I will need to help me make it. As you can see above I will need a number of software's these will help me construct the actually website. The internet will help me with getting the content for my site but also to carry out any further research. The editing software will only be needed if I decide to create a video advertising the website. My blackberry will be important for the content of my research as it will keep me in contact with good sources. These resources are just some that I plan to use but as the project is carried out I may use other equipment which I will keep note of.
As this is my own individual project I will take the lead roll in all aspects of it but if I am in need of support/assistance then I have consulted a few people that will be able help me when needed. These people are Nathan Hendry, Dean Forth and Mark Davies.
Now with all aspects of my idea considered and researched I can now use my schedule and research to carry out my final major project. Any questions?
