2. What is the Silk Road?
• The Silk Road
was a network of
trade routes
between Asia and
Europe that
extended from
Chang'an in
China, Antioch
in Syria and
Constantinople
in Turkey, to the
gates of Europe.
• The name "Silk
Road" is due to
the more
prestigious
merchandise
circulating in it,
silk, whose
production was a
secret that only
the Chinese
knew.
• This site
covers a
stretch of
5,000 miles
and gave
people the
opportunity
to exchange
goods and
culture.

4. Who used the silk road and why?
By the Silk Road merchants circulated with goods from
all kingdoms, among the many products transiting
were: silk, stones, gold, silver, precious metals, fabrics of
wool or linen, amber, ivory, lacquer, spices, glass,
manufactured materials, coral, porcelain, etc.

secret of the process of sericulture.

of the sea to reach your
destination.
7. What Were the problems or
danger people faced in the silk
road?
• One of the dangers of using silk road is that
because as it was cliffs and glaciers, camels
were those who carried the precious cargo
and food fell and they lost everything.
Almost 80% of the route there were no trees;
only ice, snow, sand and glaciers.
• Another danger was that some caravans were
attacked by ferocious bands of murderers, that
to get the goods did not hesitate to kill.
8. By the Silk Road could pass diseases
and infections. Travelers helped
bacteria, virus, etc would spread in
populations that have not inherited or
acquired immunity to certain diseases.
