Madison County Chamber News |

October 17, 2013

A note from Bill Blazer, Executive Director
We have had a couple long weeks interviewing candidates for our recently approved position of
Economic Development Director. The Madison County Commissioners are collaborating with the
Madison County Future, Inc. (CIC), the Madison County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau and our
Chamber to assist with the CIC budget, salary and benefits in the amount of $200,000 over the next
three years. It was front page news in the Madison Press and it will appear in this week’s Madison
Messenger. It is our hope we will announce our new director by the end of October.
This is a huge step for Madison County, London, Mt. Sterling, Plain City, West Jefferson and our
townships to better serve our existing businesses, assist with new business looking to relocate to
Madison County, existing business growth including recruiting local folks to new job opportunity
1
and new job training. The CIC Board of Director’s are excited to move in this direction and begin the
reorganization and planning process of having a full time Economic Development Director.
The Chamber recently hosted AT&T for an announcement of their new 4G-LTE systems in Madison
County. Typically most of the smaller counties get these opportunities last, but not this time. Many
members of the county business community attended. Also invited were Ohio Senator Chris Widener,
Ohio Representative Robert Hackett, all of our county mayors and county commissioners.
As always, thank you for the support of our Chamber. Madison County is ”Open for Business!”
