3. I grew up on a small farm near Pleasant Hope,
Missouri. My mother was a teacher and counselor
and my father was a farmer. I was raised to work on
the farm and play in the dirt. Hard work was a trait
that was instilled in my life from a very young age.

4. I grew up showing pigs, playing softball, helping my
grandparents in the garden, swimming and camping at
the lake, and playing in the dirt.

6. In High School I was active in FFA, FBLA, NJS, FTA,
and softball. I went to college in Kansas on a
Livestock Judging Scholarship. After 2 years at
a JUCO I realized my heart was in Education and
I transferred back and obtained my Bachelor’s
Degree from Missouri State University.

7. Sometimes I thank God, for unanswered prayers

8. God played a huge part in directing me from a
career in Agribusiness to Elementary Education. I
have been teaching at Fair Grove Elementary for
3 years. I spent 3 years in 2nd grade and will
be starting a new venture next year in 4th
grade. Go Eagles!

• Speaking my mind (or holding my tongue
sometimes- I blame it on my Ozarks
upbringing)
• Failure…frustrates me to no end (That

• Lazy people (I did mention that I was
raised to earn everything didn’t I?)
• People who don’t communicate
• Feet (GROSS!)
• Dirty Dishes 
• Ungrateful people- In the Ozarks we
say please and thanks!

19. Pivotal Moment
• Realizing while teaching children about
farming that education was the place for
me

20. Goals for this class…
Gain insight on the Ozarks to
share with my 4th graders
Have a greater understanding
and appreciation for Ozark’s
history
