PERMACULTURE DESIGN*
Permaculture Design provides an introduction to the design
methods, ecology, uses, ethics and principles of permaculture
design which when applied will lead you down the path to long
term sustainable working systems for your home or working
environment to achieve a minimum of waste and maximum
production.
The aim of the course is to give the participants a good grounding
in the foundation which underpins the permaculture approach to a
sustainable design for your environment.
Session 1: Introduction to Permaculture Ethics and Principles

Session 2: The Wider Garden: An Introduction to Ecology with a Field Visit to a Nearby Forest

Get started with your base and sector analysis.
Session 3: Designers Checklist: Gathering Information about Soils, Microclimates, Resources and Further
Exploration of Design Methods
Sunday, March 2—10.00am to 4.30pm
Review base and sector analysis.
Session 4: Introduction to Broad Zones and Designing Zone One (The Food Garden) and Make a No-Dig
Garden, Herb Spiral and Compost Heap
Sunday, March 9—10.00am to 4.30pm
Discuss checklist exercise.
Session 5: Zone Two Design Methods and Plant Selection and Develop Design for Food Forest
Sunday, March 16—10.00am to 4.30pm
Session 6: Field Visits to Permaculture Properties and Renaissance Underground Worm Farm

Session 7: Designing for Water Conservation

The elements and placement of Zones Three, Four and Five.
(Four Week Self-Directed Period for Participants to Finish their Designs)
Session 8: Present Designs, Discussion and Potluck Celebration

Session 10: Planting of Trees, Berry Crops and Perennial Companion Plants (The Food Forest)
