1. drug rehab is the answer
Drug Rehab deals with the serious issue of drug addiction as it relates to those who find
themselves addicted to drugs such as cocaine, meth, Ecstasy and more. Different than drug
treatment, drug rehab is usually the next step after drug treatment and involves teaching and
implementing various steps that the addict is to take in order to experience permanent sobriety.
Years ago, when my best friend became addicted to drugs, it wasn't until her drug addiction
became so out of control that her parents finally recognized that she had a problem. Until then,
she had somehow managed to hide her addiction from almost everyone who was close to her.
However, after she began cutting herself, her mother saw the cut marks on her skin one day and
immediately became alarmed. While my friend was out at school, her mother searched my
friend's room and was shocked and horrified to find bottles of pills, marijuana and other drug
paraphernalia hidden around the room.
Later, when my friend arrived home, she arrived to her mother, father and two representatives
from a drug treatment center who, after speaking to her and her family, decided it was in her best
interest to go with them immediately to seek help for her drug addiction.
Drug and alcohol rehab doesn't just target the addiction. It isn't as clinical as a alcohol rehab
center. Rather, there is more of a focus on the addict as a person. It is about figuring out what
sorts of emotions or personal experiences and traumas are tied to the addict's drug addiction.
There are tons of drugs being circulated each and every day. Similarly, there is a ton of alcohol
being sold in stores throughout the United States as well as in other countries. The same could be
said for tobacco products. However, you don't see a world filled with towns, cities and countries
where, literally, every single person smokes cigarettes, gets drunk every day or is high all of the
time. Instead, there are certain factors, situations and otherwise that cause some of us to turn to
drug and alcohol use whereas the rest of us would leave it alone.
Personally, I've never even held a cigarette in my hand much less had the desire to engage in
illegal drug use. Growing up, I had friends who decided to experiment with drugs and alcohol to
excess, and it caused me great pain to eventually have to disassociate myself with these
individuals. I wanted nothing to do with drugs and drinking, and as they delved more into that
world, I found that I began to have nothing in common with them. However, I am thankful that I
had the presence of mind to make what was then a somewhat difficult decision. Today, I believe
that I am a better person for it.
You are who you associate with, and for recovering drug and alcohol addicts, this is an important
thing to remember as it is often the top cause for what lands them back in drug rehab or a drug
treatment center. Coming out of alcohol rehab or drug rehab, the same people who you hung
around while you were on drugs or getting drunk are not the kinds of people you want to
associate with during the recovery process. Instead, you need to surround yourself with clean,
sober individuals who will provide you with the positive, healthy support that you need to continue
your recovery and your path towards eventual, permanent sobriety.
2. Unfortunately, getting into drugs and alcohol is easy. Getting out of the addiction, however, takes
time and patience and the right kinds of people to help you.
