In what ways does your media product
use, develop or challenge forms And
conventions of real media products?

2. This pill taking scene is from The MatrixThe Matrix
(1999)(1999). During the well known blue pill or
red pill scene. Our thriller involves a close up
shot of the main protagonist taking a pill, that
is shown to be the misuse taking of drugs,
rather than a way of curing something.
And in this scene above we have
captured the identical moment,
except from the fact the glass is in a
different hand to the man in The
Matrix.

3. Here I managed to find an
identical side shot, of a driver in
Fast and FuriousFast and Furious. In
comparison to our shot, they are
both male, we wanted to show
the concentration on his face,
which is shown in both our shot
and the Fast and Furious shot.
Both drivers are also holding the
steering wheel exactly the same.
We decided to use a medium
close- up, to show his facial
expressions and body language,
but we also wanted to show
some of the car eg. The steering
wheel, the seat belt and the
mirrors to portray to the
audience that he is driving the
car.

4. We wanted the title of the film to
come last in the opening credit titles .
We also decided to go for the classic
black and white theme, as this gives
the title a lot of power and creates
suspension for the audience
watching.
A cast majority of the title of the film
are in capital letters , which was the
idea we decided to go with, this
makes the title stand out.

5. Our Opening Sequence consists of a morning routine of this middle aged detective
who’s an alcoholic. The same idea is used in the TV series Mad Men (2007). There
is a shot of the protagonist pouring orange juice into a glass. This shot is identical
to ours, except the fact our actor is pouring alcohol into his glass. The director in
Mad Men, has chosen to not include the mans head or his whole body, he has
taken a close up shot of his arms and his hand; this makes the audience focus on
what he is pouring.
In both sequences, the
room is presented in a
dark room, to portray the
early morning, with just
the natural light pouring
in from the windows.
