6. Why do I need a model or a framework?
- Urban phenomenon is increasingly being much more
complex entity. (i.e.: Masdar, Mulgan dixit)
- Need a framework to look into the social innovation
processes at different scale.
- We need a systemic approach with interdependency of
factors.
- Because Social Innovation could not be understood without
Social Transformation.
- And Social Transformation means tensions and
contradictions in the system (Harvey)

8. Could we consider all the City-Regions
with the same pattern and shape?
• No, actually it is why we need a open framework in order to
identify particularities in their social innovative processes.
• Some City-Regions have tensions between certain systems.
• Hipothesys: The effectiveness of the framework (and thus
the way the City-Region behaves) is going to be a
consequence of the right balance in-between Systems.

9. 3.- European scope & cases.
“Process, rather than fixed structure,
in City-Region building means that
negotiations between actors are the
main mechanism behind
such network-based,
relational territorialisation”
