Moody's Investors Service assigned Peru investment grade status in mid-December 2009, raising its credit risk rating after an increase in the country's foreign currency debt rating from Ba1 to Baa3. Combined with its previous ratings by Standard & Poor's (July 14, 2008), and Fitch Ratings (April 2, 2008), this rating makes Peru the 4th country in Latin America to obtain investment grade status from all three of the major rating agencies.
Peru occupies the leading place in the region in terms of national attractiveness for private investment in infrastructure. Peru leads the world benchmarking on macroprudential indicators of financial system soundness. Peru and Uruguay top the ranking in the Economic Climate Index (ECI) in Latin America
