Code Club is a nationwide network of volunteer-led after school coding clubs for children aged 8-11. Laura's aim is to get more volunteers into schools to create more Code Clubs! Previously Laura worked as an ICT Coordinator in an inner London primary school. She is passionate about teaching children skills to equip them for life in the 21st century.

3. “For most people on Earth, the digital revolution hasn't even started yet.
Within the next 10 years, all that will change. Let's get the whole world
coding!“
Eric Schmidt, Google
“Our policy at Facebook is literally to hire as many talented engineers
as we can find. There just aren't enough people who are trained and
have these skills today.“
Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook
“Learning to write programs stretches your mind, and helps
you think better, creates a way of thinking about things that
I think is helpful in all domains.“
Bill Gates, Microsoft

8. Identifying problems
No projects and no
time to write them
No ‘group’ to
belong to.
It’ll take a lot of
work. You’d have
to be crazy to
take this on.
9. Solving problems
Write projects to give to
volunteers to teach
Create a network
and brand
We’re just the right
amount of crazy.
18. Our volunteers
@jgwhite
“ 1. It’s like being teleported back to when I first learnt to
code, when it was just about fun and curiosity
2. As kids, we learned to code mostly from free stuff
shared by people just for the fun of it. Kinda creates a
virtuous cycle where you feel compelled to do the same.”
27. Who do we need to convince?
"Ben came home bursting at the
seams with excitement about his
Code Club session. He couldn't
wait to download it at home and
continue. If he ends up working for
Apple and keeping me in my old
