2. I.E.S La Mola
I.E.S La Mola is a public institute in Novelda, in the
province of Alicante.
The institute consists of three buildings A,B and C
with lots of different classrooms, gym, athletics tracks
and playground.
3. Blocks
Building A: it’s the centre of the School
Buildings B and C as well as the parking and the
caretaker’s house were built after two renovations and
carried out on different dates.
4. Building A
Building A is the oldest. It was built in 1967. During
that year it was part of the institute "Assumption" of
Elche and in 1968 it was part of the institute "Azorín“
of Elda
In 1974 the school became independent and was called
National Institute of Secondary Education. It was
repaired during 73-74 years. During this period of
time classes were offered in the current Modernist
House Museum of the town.
5. Building B
It was built in 1979
It has two entrances, both with ground floor and first
floor
6. Building C
It was built in 1995 and has two floors:
Ground floor: there is the photocopies room, an
Arts classroom, the “Aula Magna”, the Multiple
Uses Hall, Technology classroom and some
departments such as Technology, Arts, English
and Maths.
First floor: In the first floor there are two
Computers classrooms, the Latin department, two
Music classrooms, another Arts classroom and the
Diversification room. This building has a lift.
7. What can you study at IES La Mola?
You can attend courses from 1st to 4th of ESO (Compulsory Secondary
Education)
1st/2nd PDC
1st/2nd of Bachillerato.
You can also attend several Vocational Training Courses, intermediate and
higher intermediate level on Trading, Business Management and Marketing.
And finally there are also studies of PCPI (Initial Vocational Training)
Initial vocational training program on Operations of recording and data
processing.
Auxiliary operations in Gardening.
Intermediate vocational training on Commerce.
High level vocational training on Business Management and Marketing.
8. Playground
The school has a huge playground in which there are
two football pitches and two basketball courts
9. Gym
The gym is another place
where students usually
play football and do
Physical Education and
in front of the gym we
have the changing rooms
with showers.
10. Canteen
The school has a canteen available to students where
you can buy your lunch
You can buy “napolitanas” of chocolate, chips, juices
and sandwiches.
11. Facilities
It also has a library where books can be borrowed
Three laboratories, one for Physics another for
Chemistry and a different one for Sciences
Two classrooms for Arts and Drawing,
Two Music rooms with musical instruments

3 Computer rooms equipped with all necessary materials
Two workshops for Technological studies
And a central room called “Great Hall” where meetings and
various events take place
Finally, there is a Multipurpose classroom where theatre
lessons, speeches and other subjects share this room.
13. Green areas
There are some green areas that have an educational
purpose
Activities related to some subjects such as Physical
Education, Audiovisual
Communication, Environmental Education, practices
of PCPI of Gardening and various extracurricular
activities are developed in these areas
14. Comenius Programme
The school takes part in a European project. It is a
bilateral project between an Italian school and our
school.
The name of the project is “European Students
Building a Sustainable Europe”.
The Comenius Program aims to strengthen the
European dimension in the field of Secondary
Education, promoting mobility and cooperation as
well as the use of English Language between schools.

It is supported with funds from the National Agency:
Schools work together on activities about Environment
and Sustainability learning about this issue and trying
to build a more sustainable Europe.
